Chapter Three, Hallie
Man, it’s bright in here. I squinted my eyes at the bright light. I remembered hearing something about not going towards the light but this seemed to be so warm, so inviting. Curiosity killed the cat, Hallie.
I couldn’t stop myself from walking towards it. My steps were slow and cautious at first, and then I broke into a run. I felt my memories being washed away. I was freed of all my Earthly mistakes. I was freed from the chains that were on me the entire time. No worries.
When I finally was engulfed by the light, I fell. I forgot everything about myself, why I was here, what happened just moments before, everything. I just saw a bright flash and then I fell into nothingness. Just blackness surrounded me.
“WELCOME TO HEAVEN!” What the hell…? I woke up in a bed to see ten or twelve people surrounding me. I jolted up from my position of laying down in a crouched position. Why does my mouth taste like grass? The room I was sitting in, totally foreign to me by the way, was perfect. It had my favorite band’s posters lining the walls, my favorite color furniture (blue) all across the room. The room was oceanfront, a view I could only dream of, and smelled like Bath and Body Work’s Warm Vanilla Sugar.
I looked around me, I knew everyone from somewhere in this room. Don’t ask me how, but I did. It was weird, and I knew if I heard their names I could tell you how I knew them. The tall boy in the back though was the most familiar. I stared at him for a few seconds, then I looked away. I could tell that he knew I was looking. Is that…?
“Allow us to introduce ourselves,” A short mixed racial girl stepped forward. She was pretty in a different sort of sense, her long black hair looked almost red. Her big black eyes seemed to sparkle whenever she looked at me. I was instantly more aware of every quirk about myself, she seemed perfect. “My name’s Vivian, this is my boyfriend Cameron,” She gestured to the boy next to her.
“Hey Vivian and Cameron. Where are-“ I was cut off from asking my question when a red headed girl started talking.
“My name’s Marie, you’ll be semi-roommates with me. We’ll have our rooms on the same floor of the house.” I looked at the girl speaking to me. She had braces and big blue eyes. I could stare into them for hours and still be lost. She had orange-like red hair, it was really puffy, but somehow it suited her. Her skin was really white, but it was not bad on her. She, again, was pretty in a new sense.
“Oh cool, but where am-“ Once again, I was cut off.
“My name’s Alice.” A tall girl with brown hair came forth. She was heavier, but not by much. Her hair was cut short, and her teeth were perfectly straight. She wore a black shirt with a tiger on it, and jeans. I could immediately tell that this girl was going to be a mystery to me.
I learned my lesson about talking, I waited until everyone was finished.
“My name is Devonte.”
“I go by Connor.”
“Lillian.”
“Hey! My name’s Kayla.”
“Justin is the name I was given.”
“I was called Sarah May.”
“Bernardo is what I was named.”
Everyone continued talking, I sat there on the floor staring up at all the people in the room. I still didn’t have all the facts straight, but I swear I knew them from somewhere.
