Dark. I see dark. That's all there is to see.

Pain. I feel pain. That's all I can feel.

Ow!

I seem to have be tossed out onto the street.

My leg feels broken.

I sit there for hours, unable to move.

Finally, I hear footsteps. Rubber against gravel, I anticipate the death of myself.

The top of the sack opens.

I see the face of a boy, around eleven, short with red glasses.

I recoil at the sudden brightness.

He carefully pulls me out of the sack and takes me into a nearby building.

In the building, there is a woman, a man and a girl, a little older than him.

They argue for a while, and finally, they put me down and give me some milk in a pan.

The boy and girl are looking down at me, seemingly afraid of what is to happen.

I hiss at them. For all I know, it could be poisoned.

I carefully, watching them, lap up a little milk. It tastes fine. I figure I can't be damaged any more, so I finish it off.

I find that the woman is preparing a small bed, and she picks me up and drops me in it. She ties a bandage around my leg.

It's warm. I snuggle up and fall asleep in my new home.

When I wake up, the boy is talking excitedly on the phone.

The girl walks in with a dark dog on a leash. I hiss. The dog runs towards me and sniffs me. I hiss again. He seems to think I smell good, and snuggles next to me. I'm still sleepy, and he seems friendly, so I go back to sleep.

The next morning, the boy and girl leave for someplace. A few minutes later, the man leaves too.

The dog can't seem to keep to himself. He keeps running excitedly around the house, but I have other problems. My leg hurts so bad that I'm tired of it. I finally end up at a good home, and the BEST time it can find to be broken is now? My whole bandage is red, but I don't mew in complaint- I don't want to be seen as a brat.

After a while, I can't bear it any longer. I call out till my lungs hurt, but it takes a while to get the dog's attention, but that happens only after I lose the ability to speak.

It takes a while for the dog to get the attention of the woman.

I try to keep awake, but the pain is too severe.

I see her coming into the room.

Dark. I see dark. That's all there is to see.
