An askance glance

The party seemed to never stop; I could still hear little verses of songs. I dreaded the idea of a party in honour of my name and especially one which had been foisted upon me. After Isaac had deserted me in the cupboard from pulling me into his beguile charm I lumbered out of the Hastings house and went back to the analogous tree.

I sat there content, until round the other side of the tree I found a copy of my book, actually my mother's – 'The devils angel'. It's just as analogous to my book as the tree here to the Amberwood tree. It had all the same qualities but seemed more frayed and worn out than mine and I continued to read it from it as if it were my own from page 282.

Hours went by as I was outside hiding from the party. It could be well over by now but just to make sure. It was very queer how from my reading I was disturbed by an impecunious boy. He was wearing drags far worse than mine when I came here, a crumpled up old aged face and hair so fair it almost blended into his skin. He seemed to of made a superficial interest in my locket as he couldn't look away from the first second he'd met my acquaintance.

"What a lovely necklace dear." He spoke crookedly.

"Yes, thank you very much I had received it as a gift from a new found friends mother."

"May – I – have a look?" He staggered saying these words, in hope to gain my trust and sympathy by his tone of voice.

I felt uncomfortable and gave him an askance glance trying to get him to go away. The old man kept stumbling closer towards me as I became more impasse as the situation grew stronger and stronger, there was no solution; well from what I had thought.

A dark figure came from in the mist from a distance. At first I thought it was another person coming to stratagem me but to my good fortune, I knew this person wasn't going to deceive me. He went into a paroxysm of rage only however to protect me. He left the man with many bruises and limping back from where he had arrived.

We stood very close together. But I couldn't help but alter, disturbed from the vexed expression on Isaac's face.
