I woke up in a great glass dome, sliding easily out of unconsciousness. The skies above were a deep purple dotted with millions upon millions of stars. The sun was setting behind me while the moon was rising on the horizon in front of me. The greenest grass spanned as far as I could see, seeing to just fall off at the horizon.

Where am I? The question echoed in my mind like the beat of a drum would.

You are the first of your kind to see this place, Young One. This place is called the Dreamers Plane. You will be able to come here anytime you need any advice. Now, Young One, I would like you to look at yourself. Are you reminded of anybody?

I look down at myself. My skin was pale as paper, my hair was silver. I looked at my reflection in the glass and saw that my once soft pink eyes were a royal, blood red. Horror filled me as I took in my appearance. I struggled to place the familiar face.

It hit me head on when I remembered it.

“I’m really that girl from my dream?” I asked my tone disbelieving.

Almost, but you are not that girl, yet. You have the power to change your own destiny, Ryla Lyn. You can pick that path, or you can pick a gentler path. Each will lead you to the situation, but with different results in the end.

“Am I truly a Fallen Angel, then?” I asked, a weird feeling bubbling in the pit of my stomach, “Do I have my wings and my halo?” I added.

The goddesses didn’t answer, so I just looked behind me and gasped. There they were.

Huge black wings towered behind me. I saw something out the corner of my eye and glanced up, seeing the halo of swirling darkness that matched my wings floating a few inches above my head. It was then I realized that the colors of my clothes were different. My overalls were a faded black, along with my boots, and my shirt was blood red.

“Where do I go once I’m banished? What do I do?” I asked, desperate for answers. I had truly never been alone before. I either had Tasha, Miles, or my siblings. Now, I had no one at all.

Your destiny will find you when you start to look for it. We have one more thing for you before we go. They said.

Suddenly, the glass was gone and I was left standing in the grass, nothing around me. I felt the air start to swirl around me. I felt pulls in my mind in 3 different directions. Towards the night sky, towards the Moon, and towards the Sun. The pull towards the sun became stronger and stronger as the other pulls lessened. Sun shined down on me, filling me with oddly comforting warmth. It filled my very soul to the brim. The warmth grew and grew until I knew my body wouldn’t be able to contain. Fire started to rise up from my feet, swirling up around me, growing brighter and bright along with the warmth.

I felt something form within me. Not anything bad…. It was like another part of me had been opened, like I had grown a random limb. The fire vanished and left me there, feeling even more powerful than I already did. I gifted you with the power of fire, Young One. Please, use this power wisely. We wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt, now would we? A warm, gentle voice said. I was assuming the Goddess of the Sun.

“I will, I promise.” I said, sending a smile towards the sunset.

Light swirled around me and I was back in that little tunnel, light blazing around me, but it wasn’t coming from a torch.

It was coming from my hand.

I stared and the ball of fire floating in my hand. It felt like the most natural thing to have it there. I could feel a little heartbeat coming from it. Fire was life, I concluded.
