Carissa Denai stared out the window of the car as it sped into her new town. only three months into her senior year her mother had gotten a new job, thus sending them to the small mountain town of Crest Hill.
the music coming from her ipod made it easier to block out all the supposed wonderful aspects of the town her mother kept going on about. Carissa could have cared a lot less. She missed the towering buildings of London, the sound of the 11 a.m bus as it passed their flat every morning. Moving to the United states would have been the last thing she thought would happen. Unfortunately luck had never been on her side.
the town of Crest Hill sat completely apart from the main towns, Filled with shops owned by families for generations and filled with people who had been there forever. In short it was Carissa's version of a dismal existence.
"Carissa are you listening?" her mother asked irritably to her
" Mum if I were listening, wouldn't I have said something by now? " she asked with deep sarcasm
her mother sighed from the driver's seat "Rissa please, I know that this was the last thing you wanted but please lets try to make the best of it?"
Carissa gave a silent nod and turned to her camera bag on her lap "Well at least this place is good for one thing" she muttered and took pictures of the the dark green landscapes. everything was green just like london, the sky was rainy just like London, but this was not her London, and that fact depressed her immensely.
They pulled up to a mid sized house, painted simple and clean. the house itself had ivy growing on it and trees surrounding it as it almost seemed to stick out of the forest. The porch wrapped all the way around and there was one bay window at the front of the house.
Carissa stepped out and quietly walked inside. The inside was already furnished and decorated in an old victorian style. the walls were a beige, the trimmings white, and there was an arch that led to the dining room. She walked up the small staircase and searched the rooms. she happened to stumble upon a blue painted room with grey trimmings. It had a queen sized bed placed in the center and a window box seat. the room had several blank walls thay could easily be filled with her photographs.
Carissa sat on the bed and and laid back staring at the ceiling. the last thing she heard that night was her mother calling her for dinner before she fell into a deep sleep.
