Emma's POV
The February breeze caused me to shiver as I made my way over to my car, a brand new Volkswagen. I got in after unlocking it and closed the door to my left. I placed my head on the steering wheel breathing heavily.
My phone went off and I reached over to the passenger seat to grab it out of my purse.
"How did it go?" Demi's worried voice asked from the other side of the line
"No position available at the time. I can try again in a few months since he liked the article I wrote as an intern over the summer." I said, the disappointment obvious in my voice
"I'm sorry love. What are you going to do now?"
"It's not the only newspaper in Boston Demi..." I sighed "I'll keep looking and sending out resumes. Don't worry."
"Are we still up for tonight?"
"Yeah. We'll talk then, talk with the others and text me the details."
"Okay. I love you."
"Love you too." I said before hanging up. I put my phone back in my purse and drove away heading to my apartment. Okay it's not exactly an apartment but oh well, it does the job.
After graduating College last summer I had to move out of the dorms and find a place to live.
The place isn't far away from Caroline's home so I get to see Ethan more.
Yes, you read that right. Caroline, as in Caroline my birth mother, the one I wanted nothing to do with. Yes that one.
Well things have changed.
"This is my mother." Caroline said pointing to a picture on the album that was on her lap "Your grandmother. I named you after her. It was like giving you a piece of me."
"She was beautiful." I said admiring the picture and a few more next to it "I'm sorry you lost her so young."
Caroline's sad eyes left the picture and found mine "I'm sorry I was a disappointment to you. Leaving you is something I'll regret until the day I die."
"Caroline." I said with a sigh "When I decided to call you and ask to see you again I had decided to try and stop holding a grudge. I'm not saying that I will ever forgive you completelly but after having heard your side of the story I can understand.... I do understand."
"Thank you."
"Just don't expect me to call you mum. I don't think I can do that. Not now at least."
"I didn't expect you to do that" She said with a small smile placing her hand on top of mine "We have all the time in the world to work on our relationship and now I'm just glad you let me be a part of your life."
It's been a little over two years since that day.
It was very hard at first, trying to forgive her, talking to her and trying to understand her. It wasn't easy putting it all behind but I'm positive that we're in a good place.
After all I have a brother, Ethan, an adorable 7year old whom I love as much as I love Lexi.
Speaking of Lexi, she's a sophomore in Juliard and aparently having the time of her life. Well except her feet hurting and being injured... well ballet isn't easy, we already knew that.
My parents took advatage of both their daughters being away to travel the world. They currently are in Spain. They are planning to travel all around Europe.
