Omega Rising - On Hiatus Due To Lack Of Inspiration

Chapter 2: Portals, Books, and Talents

          Karen prepared shuffled through her bag to make sure that she had everything. Potato Chips? Yep. Pack of random knives? Totally. Giant pillow that secretly has 10 dumbbells stuffed inside it to use as a giant weapon? Absolutely. Ninja gear? Now where did that go? Karen spent an extra minute searching for her supplies than decided to head out. It was time to go stalk her older brother and figure out why he was stalking their Grandpa.

          Karen ran out of the house straight into the woods. It was time to use the ninja training that Grandpa had set her up with over the summer! She immediately looked for footprints set in the leaves and followed them. She soon caught up to her older brother and Grandpa, then jumped up into the trees to follow them. She continued to follow them until they ran into a clearing and saw what the both of them had been going towards. A large 7-sided circle thing stood as high as a tree. She listened closely to try and figure out what they were talking about.
"... heptagon... 7-sided... portal..."
Apparently that large structure was some sort of "heptagon" shaped portal to the other dimension in Grandpa's story! She watched as Chaim and Grandpa walk up to two hand shaped runes on the sides of the portal. They placed both of their hands on the runes. The portal started to power up and electricity started to run down both sides of it. The electricity bridged in the middle and a brilliant blue fire ignited. The fire spiraled around in circles until it reached the edges of the portal. Then, there was silence.

          The silence didn't last long. A large pulse came from the portal, pushing Grandpa and Chaim to the ground. Grandpa stared into the portal, and at last a laugh came out of his mouth. Karen had drawn closer to the portal subconsciously and was now standing next to her brother.
"What... is that thing?"
"That is Grandpa's home world, sis."
Grandpa started walking up to the portal and examined the stability of it. He then beckoned for them to come closer to the portal.
"According to my thesis, this portal should be stable enough to for us to freely go in between whenever we wish without any risks of creating tears or rips between our dimensions. Wanna go in?"
The two siblings nodded their heads.

          Grandpa walked into an unnoticed shack nearby and walked out with a book in hand.
"This is the law book of the other dimension. It may be a little outdated, but it should work for you two."
"What are we supposed to do with this Grandpa?"
"Read it."
Chaim opened up to the first page and read the first 4 lines of text.
"Rules and Regulations of Universe 107. Introduction.
#1: There is to be no questioning of what happened to the past 106 Universes.
#2: The Creators are incorporeal beings that experiment with Universes to find the perfect Universe.
#3: The readers of this Rules and Regulations book will be allowed to access their inner source, giving them the power to use their Talents."
Chaim stared blankly at the book. What were Talents? Who are the Creators? And what happened to the past- oh wait, Rules and Regulations #1. Grandpa saw the confusion on Chaim's face and smiled.
"You'll see soon enough."

          Karen had no idea what the two were talking about and took the pleasure to try poking her finger through the portal over and over again. In and out, in and out. Grandpa looked over to where Karen was crouched down and then laughed.
"Why don't we see the other side for ourselves?"
Then he pushed both of them to the other side.

          There was totally nothing weird with the portal. Only a monster came out of the warp tunnel and tried to eat them, Grandpa using some sort of weird Laws of Physics defying push factor, Chaim accidentally turning himself into a crazy monster, and Karen somehow slipping into the shadows. On the other side, the two siblings sat dazed and confused at what had just happened in the tunnel.
"Welcome to Universe 107, the place where your Grandpa here grew up."
Chaim looked at his surroundings. There wasn't much difference between this place and Earth, except that the air tasted much fresher.
