I had made it through the whole week without having to be alone with Nathan. He never went to the drink stand in the morning. I saw him hanging around Austin more instead of the other boys. Whenever I saw the other boys, I would say hi but they'd normally just walk past me or look at me with a look that resembled pity.
Good thing today was Friday. Mum kept trying to get ahold of me but I kept denying her calls. I had spoken to my dad and he told me not to worry about it. That's the thing with my dad, he's alright with most things.
As soon as the last bell of my lesson went I jumped out my seat, grabbing my things before quickly leaving. There was a bonfire tonight and I really didn't want to go. Firstly, there was going to be fire. I hate fire. Nathan is going so I'm scared he'll push me into the fire. Or worse. Austin would. I know it sounded stupid, but you can't really blame me.
I made my way back to the dorm and saw Brooke just about to sit on her bed, "hey," Brooke smiled.
I returned the gesture and sorted out my books before starting on my assignments, "you coming to the bonfire?" Brooke asked taking her hair out of her ponytail. I shook my head.
"No thanks. Don't like fire." I said.
Brooke frowned, "why not?" She asked, confused. I considered telling her, she was reliable. I decided against it. I hadn't known her for that long. It was best to have some secrets...
I tensed up a little at the memory of what had happened, "I just don't... Who's going tonight?" I quickly changed the subject. I know I needed to get over it sooner or later. I choose later.
She raised an eyebrow but said nothing else on the topic of fire, "oh the normal lot. I think Hayley might be going," Brooke mentioned before standing back up. She went over to her closet and picked out an outfit for tonight.
"Ok," I mumbled.
"You sure I can't change your mind? Come on it'll be fun! The bonfires here are pretty decent," Brooke grinned.
"I'm sorry, Brooke. This time I'm really not going. No matter how much you try. I'm gonna stay in, order pizza and watch movies. You're more than welcome to join," I offered. It was Brooke's turn to shake her head. I got a apple out of my bag and bit into it before going back to my work. Brooke sighed.
"Alright. Well, I'm getting a shower." She said.
I nodded my head and carried on with my history assignment. Some time later someone entered the room, I didn't look up. It was probably Brooke.
"What you doing?" A voice asked close to my ear making me scream.
"What the fuck!" I shouted and looked at Nathan who was doubled over with laughter.
He smirked at me, "oh that was fun to watch," he said, amused.
I glared at him, "glad you find scaring the shit out of me funny." I snapped angrily and controlled my breathing. He chuckled.
"I do. Where's my t-shirt and sweatpants?" He asked in a terrible American accent.
I rolled my eyes and got off my bed before going over to my drawers and got it out.
"Here you go," I said and threw them at him.
He caught them and placed them under his arm. He started to go through another one of my drawers. He pulled out one of my bras and I blushed a deep red. I yanked it out of his hands and threw it back in my drawer, slamming it shut.
"Why are you here?" I snapped turning my back on him for a moment. I frowned a little at hearing something open and close before shaking the thought out of my head.
He smirked, "why? You not happy to see me?" He teased.
I rolled my eyes, "of course I am. I'm over the moon!" I said sarcastically.
He chuckled before sitting on my bed. I rolled my eyes and sat down on my bed as well but as far as I could get from him.
"Coming to the bonfire?" He asked and began trailing his fingers along my bare arm.
I shivered before swatting his arm away, "don't touch me," I mocked him using a British accent, "and no."
"I don't talk like that!" He defended. I rolled my eyes.
"No, you're right, you talk like this," I said, using a high pitch voice in a British accent.
"Baby, you're just jealous that you don't have my accent," he scoffed.
"I'm good thanks Farmer boy," I muttered and carried on with my history assignment.
Brooke came in a moment later just as Nathan was about to say something. She was dressed in tight black jeans with a black lace crop too. How does she have the confidence? I freak out over wearing shorts!
"Why are you here?" Brooke asked Nathan as she plugged in the hair dryer.
"Picking you up, duh." He snapped.
Brooke rolled her eyes and began drying her hair, "so you up for staying at mine tonight?" Nathan asked quietly so Brooke couldn't hear us over the whir hair dryer.
I raised an eyebrow, "why? So you can kill me in my sleep? No thanks," I asked, my eyes widening slightly. He could do that.
Nathan chuckled, "don't you trust me?" He asked raising an eyebrow. Still haven't learnt how to do that.
I shook my head, "trust needs to be earned. You haven't earned it yet." I said and went back to writing my assignment.
"So, you're giving me a chance to earn your trust?" He asked.
"Never said that," I mumbled.
"But you're implying it," he retorted with a small smirk.
I looked at him with disbelieving eyes, "you're a dick. You know that, right?" I asked.
"You know I don't care right?" He snapped.
"You know you two act like an old married couple," Brooke spoke up from where she was straightening her hair.
I looked at her with wide eyes as my face flushed.
"I would never marry her. I don't do long term. Or short term come to think of it. Anyway she would drive me insane," he snapped. I thought about Vicky but once again, my mind told me it was a bad idea to bring it up.
I felt a bit hurt by Nathan's words but I shrugged it off; why should I care what he says? I was supposed to hate him. With his silver lip ring and his star tattoo and his British accent and - Woah, woah, woah, woah! What did I just say? I was probably possessed. Just ignore that...
"He's an ungrateful, rude, arrogant dick." I spoke up glaring slightly at Nathan who glared right back.
Brooke rolled her eyes before putting away her things, "right I'm done. Let's go before you two kill each other," Brooke said.
Nathan stood up, holding his clothes tightly before storming out the room, "have fun," I smiled to her.
"I'll try," she said sarcastically and left.
The dorm seemed really lonely after they left. I sighed and quickly finished off all my assignments and an hour later I had nothing to do. I grabbed my laptop and checked my emails. There was only one email that I needed and it was from my friend Kelsey in California. I emailed her back and ignored ones from people from my old high school saying that we should all meet up, I'm stuck in the UK.
I then went on Netflix and got up The Vampire Diaries. I was nearing the end of season 1, which was good because I wanted to get to Season 3 as that was my favourite season. Just as Katherine cut Johns fingers off the episode ended. Onto season 2.
I loaded up the next season and grabbed my phone seeing a text from Brooke.
'Austin is asking about you. I think he might like you ;) please come!? X -Brooke'
I tensed up a little before replying.
'Tell him to fuck off ;) I dunno no one would be able to pick me up anyway! X -Lexi'
I finished off the last slice of the small pizza feeling full. That was some good pizza.
'Nath will! He's on his way so get ready! X -Brooke'
I groaned, I didn't actually think she'd get someone to come and get me. I sighed, maybe I can just ignore Nathan when he comes? I could always lock the door and carry on watching The Vampire Diaries. But he would probably break my door. I ran a hand through my hair before going over to the closet and looked for something to wear before shrugging. I'll just wear what I'm wearing now, light wash jeans, a long sleeve brown t-shirt with my black converse. I grabbed my phone just as someone burst in.
I logged out of my laptop and turned it off before glaring at Nathan, "what if I was naked?" I asked annoyed.
He shrugged with a cocky smile on his face, "more of a reason for me to not knock." He said before looking at my outfit and raised an eyebrow, "you're gonna wear that?" He asked. I frowned and looked down at my clothes. They weren't that bad, were they?
"Someone is definitely not getting lucky tonight," he said smirking.
I blushed embarrassed but also with anger.
"Can we just go?" I snapped annoyed.
He shrugged, "was waiting for you love," he muttered and walked out.
I sighed before walking out and locking the door before following him down the flight of stairs. We reached his car and we got into the passenger and driver's seat simultaneously.
"So, what's the deal with you and Austin, then?" Nathan asked.
I tensed up instantly, "what do you mean?" I asked quickly and tried to maintain my breathing.
Nathan looked at me through the corner of his eye and shrugged, "no reason." He muttered gripping the steering wheel.
We were left in an uncomfortable silence before I heard the music and saw the fire light. I tensed again, I can't do this- no I can. I need to get over it. It happened 4 years ago. Come on Lexi, I said to myself.
We got out the car and Nathan walked further into the forest and I quickly followed him trying not to get lost. I saw the others sitting on logs. Austin looked my way and grinned, "ah she returns!" Austin chuckled.
I said nothing to him and sat down next to Brooke who grinned at me, "want some?" She asked.
I frowned a little, "what is it?" I asked, looking into her red plastic cup.
"Vodka and coke? It's good." She smiled.
I shook my head, "no thanks," I mumbled.
"What are you wearing?" I heard Ally say in a disgust. I bit my lip. I knew I should've stayed at home.
"Yeah, seriously, you can't wear that to a party," Sophie spoke up.
"Leave her alone," Hayley defended.
I smiled at her gratefully and she returned it while Sophie and Ally gave each other a secret look, "so Lexi... Did you get any sex last weekend?" Ally asked before laughing with Sophie.
I saw Nathan shoot them a glare while Austin rolled his eyes, "girls," Austin warned quietly.
The normally mellow Siva was glaring at the ground. Tom and Max exchanged looks. Jay was glaring at Nathan which seemed a little strange considering they are best friends. Why's everyone glaring at each other? Did I miss something?
"Erm... What?" I asked confused.
"Don't worry about it," Ben smiled reassuringly.
I nodded my head slowly while Hayley and Brooke shared a confused look but said nothing.
"Lexi," Jay said. I looked over at him with a small smile, "come with me lets get you a drink," he grinned.
I bit my lip and stood up before following him. Austin gave Jay a dirty look but Jay just ignored it and carried on walking.
"Plain coke, right?" Jay asked teasingly.
I nodded my head, "please. So what's going on? If you don't mind me asking... Everyone seems different," I pointed out.
Jay tensed a little before relaxing and handing me the drink, "I'm sure it's nothing. So, the boys and I were thinking of going bowling tomorrow you want to come?" Jay asked grinning.
I took a sip of my can of coke, nodding my head, "ok is... Nathan and Austin going?" I asked.
His eyes hardened a little but he shook his head, "nope. Just me, Siva, Max and Tom. Nathan's busy," Jay smiled. I nodded my head as we walked back to the group, "yeah I guess." I answered.
"Great! Here's my number, I'll text you when I'm outside campus," Jay grinned.
As we sat down I realised just how close we were to the fire and froze. I can't do this.
"Scared of fire?" Austin taunted.
I glared at him as a choked breath escaped, "I just don't like it," I said stiffly.
"Wow, you really are a freak," Ally laughed with Austin and Sophie joining in.
I looked at Ben who gave me a wink before he looked at Nathan who was of course glaring at me. Bipolar much... Nathan's lip ring glistened in the light of the fire before he chewed on it. I wonder what that would feel like- ok. I really need to get help. I hate Nathan and he hates me. That's how life goes.
I finished my drink when Max came and sat next to me, "you alright babe? Ignore those lot," Max smiled sincerely.
I smiled back at him. It was nice talking to them again. I don't get why they ignore me at class.
"Yeah. Yourself? Don't worry, I am." I smiled.
"I'm good. So, you don't like fire?" Max asked.
I shook my head as the memories resurfaced, I can do this... Maybe.
"No... Had an accident," I said. It wasn't a total lie. But it wasn't the full truth.
Max nodded his head, "understandable. So you coming tomorrow?" He asked.
I nodded my head, "yeah Jay invited me... Is that alright?" I asked.
Max nodded his head, "course it is! Why wouldn't it be?" He asked, confused.
I blushed embarrassed, "it's just that- erm... You guys were all ignoring me this week and I thought that I did something wrong."
Max shook his head, "no you've done nothing wrong. Believe me. We just weren't having a good week... Sorry for that." Max smiled.
I smiled back shyly, "ok."
"Hey Lexi did you leaving something at the guys house you slept at?" Ally said bringing me out of my conversation with Max.
I frowned at her, "erm..." I said slowly while Nathan smirked a little.
"Don't worry about it, Lexi. Ally, seriously, knock it off," Ben warned.
She rolled her eyes while everyone looked at me, "I just..." I stumbled feeling the heat from the fire getting hotter and hotter. I started breathing quickly before standing up dropping my can to the floor, "I need to go. I'm sorry," I said.
Siva frowned a little, "I'll give you a lift darling." Siva said and stood up as well.
I nodded my head quickly and left with him before I freaked out completely. What were they all going on about? I don't think I want to know.
