I got home from the doctor. The news was almost unbearable.

Gryphon ran up, excited to see me back home.

I sat on the couch

"I'm... I'm going to die." I said time myself with tears in my eyes.

Just then, I heard a ring from the doorbell. I checked through the peephole and saw my mom.

I opened the door to her smiling face.

"How'd it go at the doctor?" She asked.

"It went well, as far as doctor visits go." I said.

She looked up, "That is wonderful."

I don't know why I lied to her.

She deserves to know, right?

I guess I panicked.

It would just break here heart.

"I brought you a cake." She said. "Your father is bringing it in." She laughed.

My dad walked in with a plate looking thing with a lid.

I opened the lid to see the lactose-free cake.

My dad cut it and we ate it together.

I managed to keep a smile on my face the whole time.

I had to.

I didn't want either of them to worry.

They finished and said goodbye.

They went out the door with the empty plate.

I felt bad for lying to them.

Putting on a smile just so they wouldn't worry.

I couldn't tell them.

I would hate to have seen either of them cry.

They went into the car and drove off.

I took a deep breath.

I sat on the couch once again.

Tears began streaming down my face.

"The audience. What will they do?" I said to myself.

I know it may seem narcissistic but, I didn't want to die and leave them all behind.

And Gryphon.

I hear dogs die of a broken heart sometimes.

I would hate to have that happen to him.

Mom, dad, the list goes on.

"I can't die, I hate can't!" I slammed my fist against the table.

I took a deep breath and lied on the couch and slowly fell asleep.
