Walking home from school is the most relaxing part of my life. The last thing I expected to happen was mother waiting for me in the car. She honked a few times to get my attention, I jogged toward the car ignoring all the cars passing by. I knew  they wouldn't hit me anyway. If anything they would die before I did.

"Alyssa!!!!" yelled my mother as she pushed open her car door quickly. I shrugged my shoulders and casually walked across the heavily packed road. "What? I'm not going to die or anything, if I did you could have sewed the driver and we would have got paid." I joked. Mother didn't seem amused, instead she gestured for me to get into the passenger side of her black, shining Impala.

"Why so serious?" I laughed while pulling open the door and throwing my bag in the back seat. I hopped into the car expecting mom to yell at me. Instead, I found her bawling her eyes out with her forehead on the steering wheel. "Mom what's wrong."

She was hesitant to answer at first.  She picked her head up and looked at me. Her eyes were blood red, she looked terribe. Some of her brown hair was wet from tears and thrown across her face. I watched as the stray hair fell and her lip quivered as she spoke. "Y-Your d-dad d-died." She bursted into tears once again. My mind told me to cry, but the tears didn't come. Something broke inside me that day, and I've kept it with me till this day.

Mother was back to her normal cheerful self after a year, but it still wasn't the same. Every conversation we had together was either awkward or it led to dad again. I hated that...a lot.

I remember the day my mother said she was going to "work". Something about that sounded fishy, mother hasn't had the strength to work since the day dad died.

As I suspected she didn't come home that night. I was all alone. I slept in my dads bed and cried for hours. At times I would start feeling crazy because I'd laugh at my misery and my sorry mother. I wanted to die at times as well, but I wasn't stupid enough to kill or cut myself because I didn't want to be weaker. I wanted to be stronger. So much stronger than what I was now.

A month past. There was a knock on the front door. I rushed down the stairs still hoping it was my apsent mother. Sure enough it wasn't, I looked through the window. No one was there. I guessed it was probrably those sick children playing ding dong ditch until someone beat on the door agan. Instead of looking through the curtain I unlocked and pulled open the door quickly. I regretted ever doing that. When I opened the door my dad stood in the door way. No...not my dad...he was dead.

The man reaed of rotten flesh and road kill. it took all my power not to barf on the spot. The man looked like dad, but he was making groaning noises. I stood there as he limped toward me. Tears rolled down my cheeks. I knew it wasn't him, but something in my heart wouldn't let me move. Instead I held my arms out ready for dad to hug me and comfort me in his arms. "Dad," I moped, "I'm sorry." I slowly pulled a the pocket gun out of my pants pocket and held it up to where it was aimed at his head. "Hey dad, remember when you used to take me to target practice," Trying to speak to him didn't help. Instead it made my hands shake and for my tears to double up. "Those were better times dad." I laughed hopelessly, I wanted him to come back. He was dead I told myself over and over. He wasn't here. This was all fake.

With all of the feelings boiling inside me, I didn't notice the closness of my undead father. Ive watched enough Walking Dead to see where this was going. I tightened my grip on the gun and pulled the trigger. After the loud gunshot my undead dad slumped to the floor like an unwanted doll. I looked down at his motionless body wanting him to come back to me. He didn't.

He never will. It was me...against the world.
