Sitting down on the curb of the back street behind my apartment building, I watched the sun set and light the sky with beautiful hues of yellows, oranges, reds, and pinks. I remember watching this sunset, day after day with a small black cat. He was a cute little kitty. Always staying by my side after a long day of work at the local bookstore. The small black animal always listened to my rants even though he probably couldn't understand anything I ever said.
I named him Emerald. Emeralds eyes were just that, a beautiful emerald color that was truly unique for an onyx black cat such as himself. His fur was soft and so were his purs.
It's sad to say it but I really miss Emerald.
The small cat used to keep me company and we met one late night afternoon when I was sitting back here, sobbing over something my boss had yelled at me previously for. I can't even remember what he said to make me so upset. All I know is that Emerald kept me company until I had calmed down. After that day, he always came and we would just sit behind my apartment building, him snuggling up in my lap and me feeding and petting him.
Emerald sort of became my family. Living alone and having little to no friends, it's only natural I gravitated towards the small emerald eyed kitten. Though after he stopped showing up, I don't know what to do anymore. It's like he unintentionally abandoned me.
"You're here!" A sudden loud voice from my right brought me out of my thoughts.
I looked over to the voice only for my eyes to widen with shock. Deep brown, nearly onyx black messy hair. Eyes, so beautiful and the exact same shade as an emerald stone. Tanned skin that was easily seen with the desert prince like outfit he was wearing.
The boy gave me the biggest smile I've ever seen and something about him told me I've seen him before. His eyes. His hair. His friendly look.
Emerald..?
The emerald eyed boy walked towards me without letting his smile fall. "My muse, the gods and goddesses have led me back to you after this past month." He murmured softly.
I tilted my head to the side. "What do you mean? Am I dreaming?"
"Dreaming?" He chuckled while kneeling down beside me. "No ___, I'm really here."
"And who are you?"
"Aijima Cecil, prince of Agnapolis." He said confidently. "Also, you called me Emerald back when I was cursed!" He then chirped with a closed eyes smile.
This isn't real. Emerald was the small kitten who had kept me company for months on end. He wasn't a boy, definitely not a handsome prince. But, Cecil, he looks so much like Emerald...
Without me grasping the situation, the prince suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me up along with him. "W-Where are we going?" I spluttered as he dragged us towards the nearby forest
Cecil didn't answer my question. All I could do was let myself be dragged by the handsome boy while my mind ran miles a minute, trying to make sense of all this.
As he brought us further into the woods, small little green orbs began illuminating the area. I looked around in awe as Cecil stopped us on top of some slightly broken stone steps that I've never seen before.
"My muse." He started while smiling. "Do you trust me?"
I gave him a curious look as his grip on my hand suddenly tightened some. A normal person would say 'no' because they've just met, but instead, being the type of person to go off of guts instinct, I nodded my head 'yes'.
Cecil's smile widened as an emerald green glow began growing around us both. Our feet left the ground and before I knew it, we were up in the air and flying away from what I had once called my home.
"C-Cecil?" I mumbled his name while holding onto his hand tightly. "What are you doing?"
"The gods and goddesses have led me back to you for a second chance." He responded with a confident smile.
"A second chance?"
He nodded his head. "A second chance at a previously one sided love."
My eyes widened at that. "B-But we've only just met an-"
"We didn't only just meet." He spoke up as we flew over the city. "I was the black cat who had showed up every night without fail to keep you company. I've been in love with you ever since that first day I appeared before you and the gods and goddesses have given me my second chance to make you mine." I watched as his smile only widened at my silent reaction. "You have nothing to fear my muse. I will make you my queen and save you from your lonely existence."
Protesting and struggling against his sudden declaration would have been the rational thing to do. But that isn't what I did, not in the slightest. There's a feeling of trust that swept over me when I first saw Cecil only twenty minutes ago and something is telling me that it's perfectly alright to let myself go with this foreign prince.
I must be crazy.
"I love you ___, my muse."
"I l-love you too, Cecil."
