{ AI } Love..?

"What is love?"

The sudden question caught me off guard. Glancing over to AI who's currently sitting beside me on the couch in the Master Course, I gave the idol a confused look. "What do you mean "what is love?" It's something you feel in your heart dummy." I laughed while returning my attention to my phone.

AI looked away towards the far wall to our left. "But that doesn't explain what love is." He murmured. "What is this thing humans crave so much and why is it they crave it?"

I glanced over to the tealette and sighed. "Being a robot is difficult isn't it?" I rhetorically asked.

This cute idol told me a few months ago that he was an android. Well, more like Natsuki fed him some of his baking and the poor thing completely malfunctioned to the point that he was out cold for a few days as he internally repaired himself. Syo, Natsuki, and myself are the only three that know about AI's true nature other than the three remaining members of Quartet Night. A bit of a troublesome secret but oh well.

Secretly loving a robot is definitely not something I ever pictured for myself. Loving a being who can't ever truly love me back. It's weird, but I guess I've accepted the fact that is my reality. All I can hope now is that my sanity won't fly out some metaphorical window while I try to sort out my feelings for this tealette...

"___." AI suddenly said my name as he turned to face me directly. "Could you explain what love is?"

I blinked at him a few times before really thinking about his request. How does one explain what love is? I can't just say that it's the thing I feel towards you because that isn't an actual answer and that would give away my secret too... Ugh, this is difficult.

"Well, have you ever felt this weird feeling similar to butterflies in your stomach before?" I asked.

AI nodded his head. "I have, but only a few times."

I laughed at that. "Okay, have you ever had this weird longing for someone and you end up doing everything you can to be near them?"

AI nodded his head once again. "I do it often."

A twinge in my heart caused me to subconsciously falter with my calm smile. He seems to be falling in love with someone. Someone that isn't me. Well isn't that lovely.

"Is there anything else that could be indicators of me feeling 'love'?" AI asked, separating me from my fleeting thoughts.

After a minute of thinking, I smiled somewhat sadly while never taking my eyes off the ground. "You want to be close to that person. To cuddle with them. Tell them that they're important to you. Make sure that they understand just how important they truly are. Make them feel loved. There's so much more that I could say, but I think that's a pretty decent checklist for you to mentally check off." I dryly laughed.

I can't meet those beautiful eyes of his when he's talking about another person. It's too painful. The android you love asking you for love advice over another person. What a painful thing to experience...

"___." AI said my name, trying to gain my attention.

Putting on a fake smile, I looked up back at him. "Hm? What is it AI?"

He stared at me blankly for a moment, thinking and analyzing something. "Do you love someone?" AI asked after a few moments of silence had past.

"Yeah." I said since there's no point in hiding my feelings considering he likes someone else. "There's this one person, but he doesn't see me how I see him."

AI's expression didn't change. "How do you know?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "I just do."

"Have you asked him?"

"Well no."

"Then can I ask you a question."

My eyebrows scrunched together slightly. "Sure." I said. There's nothing to lose at this point so might as well answer his questions.

AI stared blankly into my eyes before giving me a small smile. "Would it be alright for me to love you?"

...

Time seemed to freeze as I found myself lost in his smile. Lost in his eyes. And lost in his entire being.

"You like me?"

AI shook his head. "No, I love you ___." He said confidently. "Everything you just described is what I feel towards you."

My thoughts were a jumbled mess as I tried to grasp the situation. AI likes- no loves me? Of all the humans on this earth, he loves me? This can't be real.

"___." AI whispered my name while leaning in closer towards me. "Am I the one you love?"

"You are."

No more words were exchanged as the teal haired idol gently pressed his cold lips to mine. It was a small kiss, no more than a few seconds long, but it felt perfect nonetheless.

When we pulled back from each other, the smile gracing AI's lips was infectious and I soon found myself smiling back at him. I didn't think that he was talking about me during this conversation. I was almost positive he was talking about Nanami or some other female idol he had met. But no, he loves me. This must be a dream.

"I love you ___..."
