🚫MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD
BE AWARE 🚫
🌟The novel was supposed to have a tragic ending. Quinn was supposed to have been suffering from depression throughout the book and then committing suicide. This would lead to suicide attempt from Keoria. The idea was scraped after Green decided it was too dark, unrealistic and tragic🌟🌟In This is the part when Kayden is questioned by my parents, Keira (Keoria's mother) was going originally to be drunk but it was scraped out🌟
🌟Winona and Violet are based on realistic figures. Winona's name was based off the real person's middle name and Violet is based on the person's favorite color🌟
🌟Keira (Keoria's mother) personality was based on two people in the Green's personal life. The Jewish mother side of Keira was based on the her biological mother whilst Keira's stern, responsible and soft side was based on Green's stepmother🌟
🌟 Whilst in New York City for a vacation ,Kearin Green went to Starbucks and due to her South African accent, the cashier didn't understand her and gave her the name 'Keoria' on her drink. She later decided to use that name in her novel🌟
🌟The 'high chipmunk ' reference in chapter 1 is a phrase that Green and her friends use regularly in reality to describe a hyperactive Green.🌟
🌟Despite saying that Keoria is based off herself, Kearin Green has a pretty different lifestyle to Keoria. Her parents are not in the psychology business and Green is a only child. She lives in Johannesburg, South Africa, she is single and goes to different schools to her best friends. She also doesn't have a close gay friend name Jayden🌟
🌟Even though Keoria lives in Cambridge, Boston, Green imagined Keoria's neighborhood to look like her aunt's neighborhood in Jamaica Plains where Celeste lives🌟
🌟Bobba Teresa is based off Susan Sarandon's character in The Lovely Bones movie , Grandma Lynn.🌟
🌟If Dancing on Eggshells was to be made into a movie, Kearin would like Lake Bell to portray Celeste, Paul Rudd as Keoria's father, Evangeline Lily as Keoria's mother, Susan Sarandon as Bobba Teresa, Kirstan Wiig as Aunt Kendall, Heather Graham as Wendy , Claire Danes as Tammy and herself to portray Keoria 🌟
🌟The writing style was a mix of Jesse Andrew's style in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl , Stephan Chbosky's style in Perks of being a Wallflower , Sylvia Plath's style in The Bell Jar and Green's own style.🌟
🌟Green has never gotten drunk at a party-or even gone to a party with alcohol. She just decided to use the idea for laughs. She also doesn't know anyone her age who smokes🌟
🌟Winona and Violet are a year older than the people they are based on. Whilst both are both older than Keoria in the book, the people they're based on would be nine months younger than her🌟
🌟Even though Keoria says in This is a worthless chapter that this book is non-fiction, the book is actually a complete work of fiction. It's only non-fictional to the people around Keoria 🌟
🌟Kearin Green started writing the high school centered novel in her last four months of primary school. She feels that the book would have been more realistic if she began writing it in when she started high school🌟
🌟Quinn and Emma's romantic relationship had been planned ever since Green started writing the book. She also dropped secret hints during the way: one was in the party scene where it was said that Quinn and Emma were sleeping against each other.🌟
🌟In order to present Celeste Waldorf's bipolar personality in the book to its full potential, Kearin Green researched bipolar disorder and bipolar episodes of mania on the internet. When Celeste was in her episode of mania and being treated in the hospital, Green studied the character of Carrie Matthison from Homeland who is known for her suffering of the illness. Celeste was in fact portrayed to have the same amount of mania and attitude towards her disorder as Carrie does🌟
🌟Whilst studying Carrie Matthison, Green took down all the possible notes about Carrie's disorder as possible. Some notes included the medication Carrie took in Season 1 such as Lithium and Clozapine as well the strange actions she portrayed to show that she was mentally unstable🌟
🌟Celeste's name was taken from the title character of the ghostwritten V.C Andrews book, Celeste where a woman obsessed with old spiritual rituals forces her daughter (Celeste) to transform into her recently deceased twin brother ,Noble.
Both Celestes end up in a mental institution-but our Celeste receives treatment and leaves whilst the other Celeste lives in an institution for the rest of her life.🌟
The book cover:Creepy, hey?
🌟Kearin Green didn't only create the character Anwar for the book but created him whilst she was waiting for her stepmom to pick her up from a gas station whilst she was with a friend and felt like she was being transferred into the child's slave trade.
The character developed very quickly and soon had a backstory.
Green also portrayed Anwar in her drama practical when she was supposed to be talking about their school play by pretending to be on a talk show and have Anwar be interviewed by Green's partner. Berry ( Anwar's sister) was mentioned as well was Agrag.
She got an overall B for the practical🌟🌟In This is the part when I visit Celeste in fairy airy land, Keoria was meant to say a political joke relating to terrorism and 9/11 but it was cropped after another person reading the draft mentioned that it may be offensive to some people and cause people to he upset🌟
🌟All the mental patients introduced in TerryHill except for Celeste Waldorf and Wendy Levin are named after a book author who wrote a book about mental illness. The patients include: Mr Chbosky (Stephen Chobsky, Perks of Being A Wallflower - Depression and PTSD), Mrs Genova (Lisa Genova, Still Alice- Alzheimer's disease) and Miss Niven (Jennifer Niven, All the Bright Places- Bipolar Disorder and Depression).
🌟Keoria's character was slightly based on Juno McGuff from Juno (2007) , one of Kearin Green's favorite movie🌟
🌟Kevin-Keoria's guitar man in This is the part when I learn my wrongs and stuff - is based on Napoleon Dynamite.🌟
