An Argument

Olivia got up a little earlier than she normally would, but was a little surprised when she found her ten year old watching tv in the living room. Why would he ever be up at 7:30 in the morning? "Aiden," she says softly. "Watcha doin' up?"

"Uh, nothin'. Just watching tv."

"I see that. Mind if I join you?"

"Kina," he jokes.

Olivia sits down beside him and pulls him into a side hug. "You were up all night in here, weren't you?"

"Uh.." he looks up at her. "Yeah." They both started laughing. "It's not a school night."

"You know I don't like you and you're sister being up all night anyways! Sleep is important. Take advantage. Soon, you'll be old and have kids and you won't get any sleep."

"Okay, okay, I get it. You're old."

"Hey!" She started tickling him, but shushed him when he'd squeal too loud. "Don't make me arrest you!"

"Because you're old?"

"Because you're a little smart-ass!"

They separated and Aiden caught his breath. "Are you gonna make me breakfast?"

"Do I look like your servant?" She asks sarcastically.

"No, but you're my favorite mommy," he pleads, puffing out his bottom lip. She rolled her eyes and got up. "Can they be cheesy eggs?"

"Sure thing! Why don't you go see if anyone else is up yet?"

"But that means I gotta share!" He pouts.

Olivia smiled and laughed to herself. "Do it!"

Aiden started down the hallway and bumped into Elliot. "Found dad!"

Elliot laughed and came up behind Olivia, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her neck. "What's he doing up?"

"He never went to sleep. Hey, hand me the cheese from the fridge?"

"Yes, lieutenant."

Olivia bites her bottom lip. She can't get last night out of her head. She can still feel his touch, his lips on her, everything. "Thank you," she says as he hands it to her.

Aiden came back downstairs with Dylan and Eli behind him. Dylan looks pissed, beyond pissed, yet frightened, and shaky. She just wanted to be hugged. A hug. That's all she wants. Eli on the other hand is extremely hung over, it's extremely noticeable.

"What happened to you two?" Elliot asks, referring to their horrid appearances. "You look like hell," he tells Eli.

"I was raped, remember?" and "Hangover" were said at the same time. Luckily, Aiden hadn't heard his sister's comment, just Eli's.

"Why am I here?" Dylan asks no one in particular. "I could be sleeping, or something worth my time. Hell, I could be like Eli and go out and get hammered. Nice to know ya care about me, bud." She pats his shoulder and leaves, returning to her room.

"What just happened?" Aiden asks.

"Nothing, honey. She's just a little upset, that's all," Olivia tells him, ruffling his hair. "You wanna get started on it? You can get the eggs and bacon out for me and-"

Elliot put his hand on her shoulder to get her attention. "I got it."

"No, El, it's fine. Dylan is in a bad mood and she's taking it out on everyone else. She's not gonna die because Aiden woke her up," she snaps.

"Liv, you okay? You're normally the most understanding about that kind of stuff."

"Yeah, well there comes a point where you have to just get over it."

Eli's mouth fell open at that. Get over it? Get over getting raped? "Mom, you can't be serious! It took you until after Aiden was born to get over what Lewis did to you!"

It was then that she realized what she had said was uncalled for and cold-hearted. She knows her daughter is hurting and she should be more sensitive and understanding. "Yeah, you're right. I know, I shouldn't have said that.."

It had gotten quiet just long enough for Dylan to come back downstairs. "I'm going to Kyra's tonight," she starts. "f-if that's okay.."

"Um.." Olivia and Elliot both say and look at each other. They're surprised because she's not ever really even asked to hang out after school with her friends, much less spending the night with them. "Yeah, if that's what you want," Elliot continued.

Olivia looked over at him, looking at him as if to say "what the hell are you thinking?". "I guess you can, yeah." Without saying a word, Dylan went back to her room to get an "overnight bag". "Are you crazy? El, she barely leaves her room half the time!"

"She wants to spend the night at her friend's house, why is that so wrong? She may have gone through something horrible, but she's healing. Let her."
