Naomi's POV
SPLASH!
I screamed when a black SUV drove by the large puddle in front of me, causing the wheels to splash dirty water on me. I growled as I glared at the car that just ruined my outfit. Are you kidding me? It would've been fine if that car did this when I just got out of my apartment, but right when I was about to enter the gate of my school? You've got to be kidding me!
SPLASH!
"WHAT THE HELL!" I screamed again as another puddle was hit and its water splashed onto me. The guard by the gate looked at me suspiciously but I ignored it. Seriously?! It wasn't even raining yesterday or this morning! Where the hell are these puddles coming from?
I continued to murmur angry words as I inspected my clothes. My white flats were drenched and had turned a gray-brown color, my ripped blue jeans had mud splattered on them (my knees too since that was where the rips were), and my white Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles graphic tee was drenched, causing my black bra to be visible. Thankfully, my bag was saved from the puddles. But still... I felt like crying. I knew I shouldn't have worn white today... or walked to school, but what can I do?
"NAOMI!" A shrill voice screamed and I looked at the car that had just recently splashed me – a familiar blue BMW. I saw a fairly tall woman – my age, 19 – get out of the passenger's seat and run towards me with a towel. "I'm so sorry!" The black haired female – Leah – apologized profusely as she tried to wipe my clothes with the long white towel in her hands. "I didn't see you, honest! I was trying to finish my art project in the car, and I didn't realize we splashed someone. I'm so sorry – " I chuckled at her blabbering and she stopped. She looked down at me with her puppy dog eyes.
"It's okay," I reassured with a smile and grabbed the towel from her hands, "I guess I wasn't looking either." Leah frowned and grabbed my wrist.
"C'mon," she urged and pulled me towards her car, "your clothes won't dry up any time soon and you have mud on your pants. I have extra clothes in the back."
"Leah Chen," I laughed as her driver got out of the car and popped open the trunk, "a woman who's always prepared."
"Miss Sy!" The driver, an elderly male with graying hair name Conroy, exclaimed when he saw me as I stood next to Leah, "I'm so terribly sorry, I didn't see you! We just heard a mighty curse outside of the car and Miss Leah said that she knew that voice." I laughed and waved him off while I watched Leah dig through various bags in the trunk.
"It's fine Conroy," I sighed, "these jeans were worse for the wear anyway."
"Found it!" Leah suddenly exclaimed as she pulled a pink bag out from the trunk and into the air as if she had just grabbed the last special cheeseburger from a crowd of hungry highschoolers. She handed me the bag before turning to her driver. "Can you park the car first while I help Naonao get changed?" Conroy nodded. She never fails to forget that nickname she gave me back when we were kids.
"Yes, Miss Leah." And with that, she grabbed my wrist and dragged me into the campus of our community college in search of an empty restroom.
