The Lighthouse

The waves crash against the steep cliffs. you could hear the screaming of the wind against the lighthouse you are taking refuge in.

You can hear the young lighthouse keeper offering you tea but you do not answer.

You're frozen with fear. Your heart is racing in a quiet panic. You don't realize it but you're shaking violently, your breath labored.

The lighthouse keeper comes up behind you and gently places a heavy blanket over your shoulders and sits beside you, you jump at the sudden contact, but welcome the satisfactory comfort.

He hands you a cup of tea and you sip it.

Sitting silently together you let the warmth of the tea spread through you, the presence of another person comforts you.

The whole situation feeling more human than it first did.

Gradually sleep overtakes you. The storm that had terrified you before, now gently luring you into a deep slumber.
