(I don't own either series. Unfortunately, a friend of mine pointed out a few.... plot holes. Of course, I had to fix them. Please don't kill me, I know you will all hate me in about two seconds. All this time since last update and... I AM SO SORRY! *runs away sobbing*)
"Will you be staying for Christmas?" Amy smiled at me.
I nearly spit out the milkshake, that's right, it was Christmas here, but what year? "Christmas? What is the date?"
Dean grabbed up a nearby paper and tossed it to me; my eyes widened as I took in the date.
Later tonight I would be visiting the Ponds for Christmas. Two minutes from now my tenth regeneration would be picking up Rose.
In a second I was snapped away from the haze; "I must still be out of it from those drugs, I am SO sorry," I said, sitting up, "oh shoes, this is bad. This is really, really not good."
"What's wrong?" Cas appeared right next to me, making me jump and nearly fall over.
"He can't see me, I'm not supposed to be here," I hissed at the angel, "move, ma- angel! Before he-"
I was already halfway to the door, looking over my shoulder, when I ran into him.
Ten gained his balance quicker than me, giving me an annoyed look. He turned a grin on Rose though, "interesting name choice for the diner-"
I decked him.
"Ow!" he cried out, hand flying to his face, "hey! You ran into me-"
I punched him again. I hadn't expected his/my head to be so thick. This time he went down.
"Doctor!"
"I didn't recognize the diner," I said quickly, "how many times do you have to punch somebody before they get a mild case of amnesia?"
"That should do it," Sam said quickly, stopping me from punching the knocked out man at my feet.
"Okay. Good. Good, okay," I nodded, hurrying to pick up myself, "Dean, Sam, help me move me."
"What?"
"This is past me."
"That is not you, he doesn't even have the same face," Sam gave me a weird look.
"It's a long story. Rose, please don't mention the diner to me- er, him. Him me. You too, Ponds, you might want to be getting back home within ten minutes for a surprise visit, don't mention the diner to him, don't mention me either. What time is it, Apple, date too?"
He told me, and I quickly scribbled it down on a napkin and stuffed it in a pocket after unceremoniously dropping myself. What I was about to do was going to be selfish but.....
I checked past me's limp form, getting a read on how long he was likely to be unconscious. Satisfied, I picked him up again and this time Sam moved to help me, easily taking the limp Doctor and throwing him over his shoulder.
"Fantastic," I clapped my hands before hurrying out the door; sure enough, his TARDIS was parked outside the diner, door unlocked. He hadn't planned on being long.
I opened the door, pausing as a warm feeling washed over me at the familiar decor before I pushed it away, "allonsy, Sam."
What can I say? Old catchphrases die hard.
"Hey, old girl," I said, patting the wall as I entered a hallway, "can you pull up my room?"
I grinned then as I got an answer; sure enough, I recognized the door that soon appeared, "I've got it from this point, Sammy-boy," I took ten from Sam.
"Only Dean calls me Sammy," Sam corrected me.
"Alright, Sammy," I said, stifling a laugh at the annoyed look on his face, "ask her nicely and the TARDIS will get you back to the engine room."
Once he was gone, I put ten in bed so he would assume he had just woken up. I easily got back to the engine room, pleased to see Sam had made it instead of getting lost somewhere in the ship.
Time for one last adventure with Rose and the Ponds! I'll have them home before dinner, and past me will be none the wiser!
This was why I had a grin plastered on my face as Sam and I returned to the diner after moving past me's TARDIS; the reason my grin fell was for an entirely different reason.
A growl rumbled out from behind me; I had never been face to face with an individual of the species, but I have heard stories.
Time Wolf.
I turned slowly, coming face to snout with the four legged, red furred monstrosity. It was taller than me, my elders had not been kidding about the beast's size. A golden collar hung around it's neck.
But this wasn't possible, there were no more Time Wolves! They'd hunted my kind for the entirety of our existence until we made superior weapons and took them out.
Weapons I don't have.
Everything in me was telling me to run, to fight, to do anything but just stand there frozen. It had been ages since they supposedly died out, but I still had a bred in reaction towards the predator.
It bared it's teeth, sharp fangs gleaming. It was drooling, probably imagining the taste of timelord, maybe human too. Would it eat my friends as a snack?
A shot rang out and the wolf cried out and my ears rang horribly; one more gunshot and the creature collapsed. I stared at the limp form in shock, "it was coming for me."
"What do you think might be behind it?" Dean asked me, still a little shaky from being startled.
"Not what, who," I responded, holding my head in my hands as I struggled to see how the pieces of this puzzle fit together. I don't like it when I don't have a plan, and I downright despise having no idea what to do.
"You don't know?" Rose stared at me, looking shocked before shrugging it off, "well, you'd bloody better be figuring it out, and soon."
"Working on it," I said, rubbing at my ears, "Sam, Dean, I'm taking you home. Ponds, Rose.... I'm sorry but I have to go."
I was up and moving now, but Rose grabbed my hand, "you're leaving?"
"There are more adventures in your future," I promised my former companions, "heck, Rose is going on one in like three minutes and Ponds, you're having an adventure in a couple minutes."
"Why do we have to go home?" Sam frowned, crossing his arms.
"That was a Time Wolf; they're supposed to have been wiped out by the timelords."
"Why would they wipe them out?"
"They were at the top of the food chain," I admitted, "we were not, and timelords were their favorite food. They hunt in packs, where there's one there's more and I can't have you guys in danger."
I cast a worried glance at them, trying to seem reassuring but failing miserably. So close to one last adventure, a chance to say a real goodbye.... I turned and left, walking out into the snow. Far off, howls rang out, and I walked just a bit faster.
