If it was just that it would have been fine I lived in Florida for a very long time and a little heat wouldn't murder me. But what got to me was the laps. All together everyone had to walk four laps in the blazing sun. I was on my third lap when it started raining.See that's I prefer about Florida, flash raining in the summer months which means no more laps and I am happy for the break.
I pull down my hood and sleeves and tuck my books under my jacket. I slow jog and my legs call uncle, nearly falling flat on my face but catching my balance by teetering on the edge of the sidewalk.
A lone girl walks by me in the rain, I had just regained my balance. She walked by me coldly and as she passed me I heard a one syllable, five letter word.
"Freak"
