Prologue

A/N: Hi. So, this is my first Danganronpa fanfiction. It's most likely not going to be up to your standards but I'll try my best. I recently started playing this game and it very quickly became a favourite of mine; the characters and storyline were just so awesome so...here I am. Anyways, let's dive right in.

I couldn't really believe it when I was sent that letter. That single, life-changing letter that secured my place within Hope's Peak Academy.

I still remember when it slipped through my letter box and floated to the ground in front of the door. I rushed to it instantly upon learning that it was for me, completely oblivious to its contents. I never got mail within my household and therefore this was a special moment for me. However, this letter was particularly special.

Upon realising what the purpose of the letter was, I gasped in shock, mouth agape. I knew that what I possessed was a talent but I had never even considered the possibility that I would be scouted for Hope's Peak Academy. Besides, it isn't exactly your typical singing, dancing or sports related talent.

My talent...is for puzzle solving.

I know, it's odd. But somehow, my ability to solve a 1000 piece jigsaw in a record time of 8 minutes 26 seconds and the fact that I won the National Puzzle Championships was enough to earn me a place at the academy. It's not that I wasn't confident in my abilities because it is shown that I have a gift through my achievements; I just couldn't believe that a talent so unusual would have gotten me into such a prestigious school.

I guess it is true; the academy really does scout students in ALL fields.

I approached the academy on the day listed on the letter with very little confidence. My nerves were rising and my heart was racing with every step that I took towards the looming building in front of me.

I wore a pale green dress with my favourite white blazer-like jacket and lilac tie; I needed to look acceptable for the first day at this school, especially because of its sophistication. On my feet, I had on a pair of crisp white leather boots with a slight heel, brand new in preparation for this day, that reached my mid-shin. I had tied my long straight hair into a high side ponytail with a ribbon that matched my dress, holding it in place at my left side and making it fall to my elbow. It also concealed a few thin braids, cleverly hidden within my sea of hair. My fringe was swept to my left as well, partially covering one of my eyes.

I had heard about some of the other students who would be enrolling at the same time as me; people like the Ultimate Baseball Star, Ultimate Swimming Pro, Ultimate Writing Prodigy, Ultimate Pop Sensation, the list goes on. These were all people that I had expected to be here; people with very popular talents. However, there were also people with talents that I would never have expected; these included the Ultimate Moral Compass, Ultimate Gambler and the Ultimate Fanfic Creator. There was even someone who got into the academy purely based on luck! Maybe I could become friends with these people, the ones with the more...unusual talents, just like my own. I would definitely relate to them more.

I held tightly onto that hopeful thought, gathered all of my courage and stepped into the academy. The start of my new life.

What I didn't know was that this experience would be more 'life-changing' than I could have ever imagined.

A/N: This...actually didn't turn out that bad. So anyway, I hope you liked it; the next instalment should be up soon. See you then!

Gaby :)
