My grandparents came to visit in the middle of August. They were evacuated from New Jersey because of the hurricane that was supposed to come. I rained, the wind blew and the lights would flicker. We never lost power but you could hear the storm, it wouldn't let you forget that it was here. Axle sat with me the whole day, never asked to go outside because he was so scared of the violent power of the storm. When he did go outside, he quickly did his business and ran back inside. The rain drenched me the second i stepped out side. The wind sent a shiver through my system that made me think of winter. I didn't want to be outside for once.

When it was time for bed I curled up with Kieryan's old jacket. It made me feel safe because Kieryan always held me during thunderstorms. I fell asleep, feeling safe from the storm happening outside my house. This jacket was the last thing that I felt connected me to Kieryan, it made me feel safe and happy. With that feeling I prayed that everything would turn out well after this storm had past.

I woke up the next morning greeted by the damage the hurricane had done. There was a tree outside my window, blocking the view of everything else.

"Dad!" I called.

"Yes?" He walked into my room.

"What happened with the tree?"

"It fell last night during the storm, didn't it wake you?"

"No i slept all night."

"It landed barely out of the way of your room, you're lucky." He walked away and i hugged the jacket tight. I was safe, because I had believed i would be kept safe.

"Thank you Kieryan, for giving me that hope." I said silently before getting ready for the day.
