Morning came to quickly. The rays of the sun entered Kalen's dorm room. Jace had fallen asleep snuggled up close to a chair, exhausted by the night before.
Her eyes open slowly as she took in the light that flowed in her room. She rolled over to her see Jace, who breathed softly and evenly. She smiled and giggled to herself.as she tiptoed out of bed and to the bathroom.
Once she closed the door quietly, she looked into the mirror. Her once pale face had retained color to it. She raised her pale to her forehead feeling the normal temperature of her body. Memories of the past night simmered in her brain.
Turning the faucet on, she splashed water on her face as ashe grabbed a green hand towel from the hanger near the shower and wiped her face.
She smiled, looking back at herself in the mirror. Her eyes had become a more defiant brown with a strange tint of honey. She touched her hair, sprawled and fuzzy from her awaken slumber. She noticed the more redder it got.
She set aside the looked and reached for the handle of the door. Thoughts were racing through her mind.
Tomorrow would be the full moon.
She shuddered making her way back to Jace who still slept pleasantly, hardly noticing that she was up. She changed into a plaid shirt and ripped jeans then made her way out of her room, looking back at Jace.
With a sigh, she shut the door and ran to the forest. the luscious grass and fall leaves seemed to calm herself knowing that nature would always be gorgeous and beautiful. She made her way to a thick tree and sat down with her back leaning against it. She heard the singing of the birds at 7'o clock in the morning. The howls and talks of animals.
Slowly she rested her n the bark of the tree, and closed her eyes. Something in the forest calmed her. The suttle breeze of the wind. How peaceful it was.
Jace woke up, groggliy and confused. Straching his head, he strached and looked at Kalen's empty bed. His eyes widen as he looked around frantically for the nurse.
He stood up, rubbing his head he recalled running to the nurse. Something or someone stopped him. He'd felt tired and went to sleep back in Kalen's room only feeling guility. He sighed, thinking. If she was gone, she'd ought to be fine. He laid down on her warm bed, feeling the left over warmth of her body heat.
Nothing is normal, He thought.
Kalen was awaken by the sound of a stick breaking near her. Her heart started to pound in her chest. She'd seen this horror movies. A monster or stranger would kidnap them evenually killing them.
She stood up , looking around her wavering to the clearing then back to her feet. She breathed relieved but then held her breath. A hand had gone to her mouth. With fear in her eyes, she looked at her attacker.
It was none other then Kayden. He let out a laugh and let go of his hand.
"How'd you like that one?"
Anger boiled through her blood. "What did you do to me last night?" She shouted clenching her fist tightly.
He eaned against a tree, eyeing her. "Well, first of all..it was very rude to leave without saying good bye to the host." He said smirking.
She shook her head, sending a roundhouse kick to his chest. He blocked it with inhuman speed, grabbing her fist aimed ofr his face.
"You must calm down." he pleaded.
"Why should I!?!?!" She questioned angerily.
He sighed, still holding tightly on her wrist. "It was wrong for me to scare you like that. You have to know the truth."
She thrusted her wrist away from his tight grip. Rubbing her wrist, she looked over at him in expectancy. "Go on."
He sat down near where he once stood, gesturing her to do the same. Sitting down, he looked at her.
"Ask away."
Kalen looked in his eyes sapphire blue eyes. "Why me?" She asked as quiet as the wind.
"Your a great fighter. I was told to watch over you since you arrived here." He told her, pausing. "The Traixs Clan is lead by my father. " He touched the soft, cool grass beneth his hand. "Was."
Kalen eyes widen. "Wait, wait...James was your father?"
Kayden was suprised on how she guessed so quickly. "Yes, he was. He communcates with us every now and then. " He sighed getting to the point. "I was told to protect you. "
Kalen looked down. "I'm confused is why I have to get turned into a vampire by tomorrow night."
"It's because we've seen your skills. Watched your every move. The more you improved, the increasing danger you are."
Kalen sighed. "Who's hunting me? Why do they want me?"
"Growing up at this school..you have learned that you must fight Supernatural creatures. The fact of the matter is that..we are not alone.
"What do you mean?"
"The teachers. Some students. When you became a warrior...they kill you. Drain you or tear you pieces. "
She sighed, overwelmed with the stirring answers. "Then what happened last night to me?"
"You started to transform."
She stared at him, completely in shock. He suddenly shot up and loked around as if he was scanning the area.
"What's wrong?"
"I smell blood."
She stood up,looking around wondering where he got the sudden scent. He started to follow it, waving her to come catch up.
Through winding trees and uncomfortable silence he foudn the source.
Cera laid bloody on the ground. Her eyes stared into the endless forest. Kalen started to cry, feeling for a pulse, but found nothing.
"Kayden, she's dead!" She sobbed, grasping on her hand tight. Kayden stood watching,as if he knew something wasn't right.
A shadow appeared and out came Mr. Akon from the trees. "You did this!" She shouted.
Faster then lighting, Mr. Akon grabbed Kalen by the neck. She gasped for air, her lungs screaming inside.
"Let her go!" Kayden shouted. A smirk went on Mr. Akon's face.
"I'm sorry. I hope you'll forgive me."
Kayden collasped to the ground by a sudden shot that rang in her ears. Mr. Akon took hsi limp hand and started dragging him.
He looked at Kalen. Fear was written in her eyes. "Nighty-night."
Kalen sunk into darkness.
