I look out from the wall long window in our apartment to the blurry city lights.
The rain is fresh on the ground and it's still spitting.
Drops roll down the window and I just watch, sitting in my favorite spot.
It's a nice little bench that stretches across the entire window so you can see from every part.
Our apartment is cozy, but also spacious.
I like it that way.
By our apartment I mean, Blake and I's; and our little girl's.
She wasn't really supposed to happen, but Blake and I may have gotten a little carried away.
I blush.
It's sort of late, around 9:00, and the city lights shine nicely against the black backdrop and compliment the stars.
I just stare.
How can something so beautiful be so awful?
A big city like Chicago isn't a real nice place for a little girl to grow up, but Harley is tough.
She's so beautiful.
She reminds me of myself sometimes.
Gentle, but she'll give a right left hook if she has too.
I think she will like it here, and she does.
I here little pitter-patters on the hardwood stairs.
I see Harley's cute little button nose and big eyelashes poke from behind the wall.
She smiles and giggles, her laugh is sort of high pitched, but we think it's adorable.
She comes running over to me, and I scoop her up into my lap.
"Mommy, look at all the pretty lights!" She says a little too loudly.
"Shh, Daddy's sleeping. I know they're pretty." I whisper.
She looks out the window at the lights and the stars reflect in her eyes, causing them to twinkle even more than they already do.
"Will you tell me a story?" She asks.
"Sure baby." I say cradling her in my lap, holding her between my knees and chest.
"Once upon a time, there was a boy."
"Ooh I like boys!" She whispers.
I giggle. "Do you now?" I ask tickling her and rubbing my nose on her forehead.
She laughs.
"Shh mommy, you'll wake up Daddy!" She says sarcastically back at me.
"Well, once upon a time there was a boy. That boy moved to a big city where the lights shine brightly, and the stars twinkled. And then he met a girl, who changed his life. She had magical powers that allowed him to teleport anywhere he wanted with her when they kissed."
"Ew, gross Mommy." She said sticking out her tongue.
"So, one day he decided to teleport back home with her, to Georgia. They spent all day together there, and the boy realized how much he missed his home. He told the girl he wanted to move back to Georgia, and he wanted her to come with him. But, the girl had a secret. She couldn't leave her home state, in New York. The boy really wanted to move back home, which made the girl frustrated. She loved the boy, and didn't want him to leave. So, she and him teleported back to New York. The girl also knew she could transfer her powers to her one true love, but she hadn't found him, until now. So, she transferred her powers to him, so he couldn't leave his home state, Georgia. They went back there, and lived a long happy life together in Georgia, and all were happy. The end."
Harley fell asleep in my arms. I decided to carry her back up to her bedroom and there I tucked her in, leaving her with a kiss on her forehead.
I went back to my little perch and back into my deep thoughts, when someone came up behind me and grabbed my waist.
He turned me around and kissed me. Blake.
I sighed.
I put my hands around his neck and kissed him back.
I then rested my head on his shoulder, his head on top of mine, he hugged me back.
"I love you." He said, although he said this every day.
"I love you too." I said back.
"Are you ready for tomorrow?" He asked questionably.
"Of course." I said hesitantly.
Blake and I planned on getting married tomorrow, a wedding but no guests. There would be a walk down the aisle and a dress and all that other stuff, just no people.
We agreed that we didn't want anyone there, that we'd tell them later.
I know my mother will be upset. She already knows about Harley, but always dreamed of my wedding day.
Blake and I just stand there hugging each other, looking out the window at the lights.
I was excited for tomorrow, but more nervous.
Harley would be there, the flower girl and ring bearer.
I picked out a nice dress, with the help of my best friend, Delilah.
She'd be there tomorrow I guess, she couldn't help herself, she's love savvy.
Blake kisses me again, breaking the silence in the apartment.
That would be everybody though.
My big wedding day, little people, small arrangement, my daughter.
That's how I wanted it, our big day.
Little did I know it would be my last...
