Sams POV
I handed Laurel a notepad with a few questions on it. "You can ask them others, but try and get these in without sounding like a dumbass."
She laughed. "I'll do my best. Thanks, Sam."
She waved bye to me and Dean and walked up to the house.
"Think she will get enough information?" I asked.
Dean nodded. "I hope so."
We pulled into the parking lot shortly after and made our way to where the coroner was. He was hovered over a body with the stomach open.
"Excuse me, Dr. Walker?" I said.
He looked up. "You must be agents Murdock and Nelson."
I nodded. Laurel picked our names for these. I don't know what it meant but she laughed her ass off when I got them made. She picked her's too but I don't remember it.
"Right this way." He took off his gloves and out on a new pair. He walked towards the back of the morgue and opened two of the drawers, pulling back the sheets on both the bodies.
"Any relation?" Dean asked. He stared at the bodies and cringed.
"Friends. I'm not sure how close, but they did go to school together."
"Obviously the cause of death was... the gaping hole in their stomachs... was there anything else suspicious you found?" I stared at the doctor.
"Nothing too bad. They had consumed large quantities of alcohol before they died though. But teenagers will be teenagers."
I looked at Dean who nodded. "Mind if we have a look at those reports?"---------------
Laurels POV
"Miss... Page, you said?"
I nodded. "You can call me Karen." I smiled, hoping it was a friendly one. She handed me a cup of tea and sat down. "Thank you." I took a sip and forced it down. It tasted like dirt.
"My son, he was a very kind boy." She smiled.
"I'm sure he was. I wish I could have met him."
"Oh he would have loved you sweetheart."
I smiled. Kinda creepy but okay.
"I know it's hard to talk about, but do you know what happened? I mean, did he have anyone that may have been targeting him? If I don't have a few answers for the paper they will fire me." I tried to look sad.
"Well we don't want that." She gave me a small nod and kept talking. "I don't think he really had any enemies. Maybe a kid from school, but don't we all have people that don't like us?" She laughed a bit and continued.
I stared at the woman in front of me. "Uh, Ma'm. If you don't mind me asking, you don't seem very upset by this. Is everything okay?"
She gave me a small smile. "I'm only a step mom. I know I should love him but he hated me more than anything. I just never got to know him very well." A tear fell down her cheek. She genuinely seemed a little sad about not getting to know him.
"Where is his dad at?" I asked.
"He's working right now. But I'm sure he would be alright to answer any questions you might have."
"Oh, that's alright. If you could just give me his name though, just in case I need to contact him?"
She nodded. "Michael Heart."
"Thank you very much." I stood up. "I better get going. It was," I paused, thinking of what to say, "lovely chatting with you."
She stood up and gave me a huge smile. "You too sweetheart. I hope you get that promotion."
The what? "Thank you." Oh yeah. I work for a paper. I shook her hand and quickly left before she had me finish my dirt water.
The next house was only a few blocks away. I began my walk and made it there in ten minutes. I hopped up the front steps but before I could knock on the door, it swung open. Sam and Dean stepped out.
"What the-"
I turned around and walked back to the car with them.
"We finished at the morgue and got bored."
I nodded. "Oh."
"What did you find out?"
"First of all." I climbed into the back seat. "Green tea tastes like dirt."
Dean nodded. "I can second that."
"Come on. It's not that bad." Sam said.
"Yes it is." Dean and I said in unison.
Sam chuckled and stared out the window.
"Honestly, I didn't get much. His dad wasn't home and the mom is his step mom. She didn't know shit about the kid. She pretended like she was his real mom but she wasn't very good at it."
Sam and Dean nodded. "Well, we figured out that James has a bother. He's 22, and he's kind of annoying. Also, Jeremy Smith, the dad of James, and Michael, the dad of the Will, we're both partners in their business. We got the wife talking and she said they had a third partner, Andrew, but he quit because Michael and Jeremy cheated him out of a large sum of money." Sam said.
"So you think Andrew is the one doing it?" I looked between Sam and Dean. "How? He's just one man. Unless he's the hulk, I really don't think he could do something like that."
"Maybe not alone." Dean said. "But he could be controlling something that's doing it for him."
"Controlling something? Controlling what?"
"Maybe a ghost?" Sam said.
"Or a reaper. Like that one when I was dying."
"How many times have you died?" I yelled, hitting Deans arm.
"I guess it could be a reaper." Sam agreed. "We need to find Andrew.
We drove the short ten minute drive to Andrews house. We all got out and walked up the driveway, heading to the door. Sam knocked a few times.
"Wait! I'm not in my suit." I said quietly.
The door swung open.
"Yes?"
"Uh, hi. I'm agent Murdock, this is agent Nelson, and this is our... Intern... Miss Page. We are with the FBI." Sam and Dean flashed their badges. "We would like to have a few words with you regarding the recent deaths of the two young men. James and Will."
The man stared at us, shocked. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Well, of course you do. You worked with their fathers. I'm sure you wouldn't miss something like this." The man tried to close the door but Dean stopped him. "Andy, can I call you Andy? I'm gonna call you Andy." Dean took a step inside. "We have reason to believe you were involved with their death."
The man shook his head. "I didn't kill anyone. I don't know what you're talking about."
"Mind if we have a look around?" Dean asked.
"Go ahead. You won't find anything."
We walked through the door. I gave the man a small smile, hoping to lighten the mood. It didn't help. We searched the entire place, ending in his office.
"God, he has the good whiskey." Dean rummaged through the alcohol that was on the shelf behind his desk. I looked around his desk and tried to open a drawer.
"It's locked."
I got down and picked the lock. The drawer slid open. A box was inside.
"What the hell is that?" Dean asked.
Sam walked towards us as I pulled out the box. "It's Japanese." He said. I stared at the foreign writing all over the box.
"I wonder what it says."
Dean pulled out his phone and took a picture. "We will find out soon enough."
I tried to open the box but it was locked as well. "Andrew is one secretive douchebag." I said. I out the box back and closed the drawer. "Let's get out of her and do some research. We have to find something."
Dean nodded. "Good idea. I think I'll go to the bar by the motel. I need a drink that isn't out of a mini fridge."
We left Andrews and went back to the motel. Dean walked to the bar and Sam took the Impala. He went to the library to see what he could find on the scam Jeremy and Michael pulled. I decided to stay at the motel and use the trusty Internet, which actually wasn't working at the moment. I sat on the bed of the motel room and flipped through Johns journal. I still haven't read it all, and it could give us a clue to what is going on here. I looked up when I heard the sound of the door opening and slowly reached for the gun under my pillow. To my surprise, Dean walked through the door, a woman following behind him.
"Laurel!" He said surprised.
"Uh... Who else?" I asked, staring at him and then the woman.
"Oh, is this your daughter!" The woman said in a happy tone. She walked closer to me, her blonde hair bouncing with each step.
"Actually I'm-"
"I love men who love their kids! It's so cute!" She beamed at me and looked back at Dean. I stared at her with a confused expression.
"Yeah. She's my... daughter." Dean smiled and walked over to me. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
I extended my hand out to the woman. She grabbed it and shook my hand gently.
"Well, I am going to go freshen up." She said. She looked around, trying to find a bathroom. She seemed a bit on the stupid side.
"Bathrooms over there." I pointed to the hallway behind her. She smiled and skipped towards it. I turned towards Dean.
"So uh... Sammy is at the library, and I thought you were there too... doing research."
"So I'm your daughter now?" I laughed at the thought.
"I'll get you a new laptop if you go along with it."
"My laptop works fine."
"I'll get you a new phone?" He asked.
"We get new phones every other week, Dean."
He shook his head. "I will get you a new 45."
I smiled. "Now we're talkin'." I really wanted a new gun.
The woman Dean brought back walked out of the bathroom and back towards us.
"What did I miss?" She asked. She was still smiling. I looked at Dean.
"Nothing. Just... random stuff." Dean said.
"Yep. 45 random things." I stifled a laugh as Dean elbowed me.
"Huh?" The woman said.
"45 engraved things." I smiled, hoping Dean would get the hint that I wanted it engraved.
Dean shot me a look.
"Well." I put my hands together. "I'll be going now. It was wonderful meeting you..."
"Nancy."
"Don't care." I turned around and grabbed my black bug-out-bag next to the door. It had water and food, salt of course, and a couple weapons, just in case shit went down and we had to bolt. I probably shouldn't have grabbed it, but I couldn't exactly grab the gun from under my pillow without what's-her-name noticing. "Bye dad!" I shouted sarcastically as I walked out the door.
"Hey." Dean called as he walked to the door.
I stopped and spun around to look at him.
"Be careful." He gave me a small nod.
I nodded back. "I will, Dean." I watched as he closed the door and then I turned back towards the road. Where I was going I wasn't sure, but I definitely wasn't staying there to witness fifty shades of Dean.
I turned left and walked until I made it to a store. It was a small antique shop. I listened to the bell as the door opened, stepping inside. It was smaller than I thought it was, and that was pretty small. I walked around, inspecting the items on the shelves. I had no idea what half of it was, but it still looked cool.
"Can I help you with anything?"
I jumped back and reached for the gun I had in the back of my pants. I quickly let go of it when I realized it was the owner of the shop.
"Actually, I'm just looking." I smiled and looked behind him, noticing a sword on the wall. "Woah..." I walked towards it.
"Like that?" The man asked. He followed me to it and took it off the display. "Hold it." He handed it to me. "It's a katana."
"It's fun, is what it is." I smiled.
The man laughed. "It's for sale. I'll give you a good deal."
I stared at the sword in my hand but gave it back to the man.
"I can't. My brothers would have my head if I walked in with that thing."
The man nodded. "Maybe some other time?"
"Yeah." I smiled and left the store. I looked over and saw the bar Dean was at. I decided to go inside. There was nothing else to do. I might as well drink a little. I saw at the bar until the bartender walked over to me.
"I'll take a beer." I said. The bartender stared at me.
"Are you old enough to be drinking."
No. "Yes." I flashed him my ID. Well, fake ID. He stared at me but handed me a beer anyways.
I finished three over a few hours when Dean sat next to me.
"How'd you find me?" I asked.
"You're a hunter, and a Winchester. When are we not at bars?" He asked. I nodded. He had a point.
"Well, how's it go?" I asked, referring to the woman be brought back to the motel.
He shrugged. "She got kind of annoying, to be honest. I'm all for cuddling afterwards but she kept trying to figure out more about me, more about you."
I laughed. Dean ordered a beer. "You want another?"
I downed the last of mine and shook my head. "Nah, I'm gone get back to the motel and see what Sam found out. He's probably back by now, or he will be soon."
Dean nodded. "I'll be back later."
"Alright." I handed Dean a twenty so he could cover my drinks and a few of his, and left the bar, heading back to the motel.
