This book is mixed with the scenes from Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman and Batman Returns series. Also, the characters did not belong to me aside from Solaris, etc. and the story.
The ground was shaking. Huge smoke spewed out on the top edge of the Max Corp. Building and I was standing right beneath it. Suddenly, a huge burst of fire erupted like volcano spewing hot magma followed by a cloud of heavy dark dust. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't breathe well. Not because of the smoke that's starting to disperse nor the fire specks brushing past my wobbly legs, but of angst. My mom was in that building and my uncle went inside to get her out of there.
Get somewhere safe. I'll be back in a second, he said as he rushed inside, feet like thunder as he ran going to the double doors.
Half of the building was falling sideways as it created a brutal sound of steel bending, carrying the weight of the whole infrastructure. Glass shattered and framework started to collapse gradually.I was dazed out of fear and I was in verge of crying.
Everything surrounded me was a disaster. Sirens whistle in hoarse voices because they were either broken in half, upside down or smashed by metal from above... Or maybe stepped by someone inhuman... I don't really know. The road was coarse and massive faults seemed to make it more revolting. This was not the only building which was falling apart but the entire Metropolis was crumbling. Other buildings collapsed and damaging the others like dominoes falling piece by piece.
People were running and screaming out of their lives as they pushed and panicked because they didn't know where to go or how to get to safety. My uncle hadn't returned yet and I'm rest assure that he was not okay. I had an urge to go to the damaged building but I didn't think I got the guts to enter. What more can I do? I was so scared and I was merely a kid.
The shaking started again as strong light plummeted down from afar, maybe more than twenty feet from where I was crouching. Following the heavy stream of light with my eyes, it came from a dreadful sort of like mothership which I never saw anything like it in my life. Its dark composition and eerie green glow made it look like a menacing kraken trying to destroy a crew ship. Alloy like tentacles sprung from each side as the beam grew stronger.
Every object lifted as if the Earth was jumping up and down and came all crashing down the ground at once. I felt nausea starting to bubble as I draped onto the floor with my hands steadying me. Then the heavy sound of metal screeched that made me look up and saw chunks of concrete fell on me.
I screamed as loud as I possibly can out of fear. I ducked, covered my head with both of my hands and closed my eyes tightly. This was where I'll die. This was where I thought that I would never see my mom again. Everything in me was blank.
Suddenly, as if time toppled slowly, I was scooped out from the scene as strong pair of arms huddled my waist. The man who saved my life grunted as we tumbled forward still keeping me close to him. The concrete behind us hit the pavement with a loud thud. Rocks broke, creating a hard crease on the street. I take ahold of his clothing, my eyes still held shut as tears jutted down my face. I didn't want to watch what happened after, so I buried my face on his chest.
"You're okay now. You're okay." He condoled with his soft voice, putting his hand on my hair and smoothed it out. He clearly was not my uncle but I didn't care. Everything was falling apart and the last thing I needed was for someone to hold on to.
He moved us to safer ground which was not near tall buildings and rocky pavements. I slowly began to open my eyes and stare at him with horror. He looked at me with blue eyes which were unsettled. He should be a man from about his mid-thirties. His hair was black but some strands settled with blunt white streaks. He was wearing a wrinkled polo shirt with a gray vest over it. It was ashen including small parts of his face.
"Who's with you?" He asked and I pointed at the collapsed building.
"My mom." My voice almost shook and high-pitched. He followed his head to where I pointed and slight despondency reached him as the building where my mom and uncle were trapped was in flames. He patted my head and looked at me in the eyes.
"Look, kid. I'm going to call Alfred here and he'll take you to--" An aftershock broke out but it was a shorter than the last, rumbling like thunder. The man looked at the strange light beam and my eyes trailed to something or someone shooting out hot red lasers from his eyes. He was flying swiftly, circling the alien ship, still emitting those red streaks from his eyes. Is that, Superman?
"He's going to take you somewhere safe," He turned his head to me as he finishes his sentence. Distressed, I bobbed my head to look at him wonderingly. "I gotta go. Just stay here. If anything happens, get yourself to the bay so that he'll see you." He abruptly said.
Just like that, he sprinted to the now damaged street, disappearing as black smoke hooded his large figure.
And up until now, my mother and uncle never came back.
