The modern revolution I chose was 'Occupy Wallstreet'. This modern day revolution was created to represent the 99% of American citizens who are working class, against the 1% of Americans who are extremely wealthy. The movement began on September 17, 2011, in Zucotti Park, in New York City's financial district. When choosing my 5 criteria for a revolution, I took into consideration all of the past revolutions that have been held. My 5 criteria were (from most to least importance) change, liberty, freedom, passion, and radical. When looking at OWS, all of these are clearly represented. OWS is a movement to change America for the better, to help out the majority of it's citizens, instead of the wealthier minority. In liberty, we realize that we have to make a change by using more peaceful demonstrations. In freedom, we are expressing our thoughts to change this world for the better. Passionately, we take a stand for all of those who cannot, due to location and expenses. We cry out with the voices of thousands in unison screaming "99%!". Radically, we have to sometimes make signs that say "People: Not Profits", showing our frustration and anger with the current economical situation.

In conclusion, I believe that 'Occupy Wall Street' is a wonderful example of a modern day revolution. It represents all of the criteria that I believe in, and has made quite an impact on the human experience. Hopefully, we can continue to move forward in this.
