Part 8
I watched the Zombie’s movement, keeping a close eye on the switchblade in his hands. The best course of action was to take him down and disarm him with a tanto dori move. Once I had the switchblade in my hands, he wouldn’t be as dangerous, but I wouldn’t be able to keep him pin to the ground, who knows what he may have neglected to tell me about being a Zombie, so I would have to put as much space between us as I could.
With a swift movement, the Zombie charged at me with the switchblade out. I reacted without a second thought. Using a tanto dori move, I disarmed him, pinned him to the ground long enough to find a find a good spot to put space between us. As I quickly backed away, closing the bloody switchblade, the Zombie laughed.
He got to his feet brushing dirt of his legs and chest. “So it was true that you can use aikido.” He looked me up and down, his eyes gleaming with lust of a challenge. “I bet you’re a master at aikido.” I tried not to give away anything that told him he was right. Being underestimated was to my advantage, which was why I only used a basic move against him. “Sorry, doll, but that’s not going to help you against me.” I watched as he pulled out throwing knives. “Unfortunately for you, I have great aim.”
My heart started to race, but I was no fool when I picked the spot where I stood. Before he realized my advantage, I dived behind the garbage bin. It was pulled out just enough for me to fit behind it. I stayed low and out of sight as I moved to the middle of it. I listen intently for the sound of his footsteps to figure out which end of the bin he was heading for.
He headed towards the end I dived through. I opened the switchblade and silently moved towards that direction. “Hiding from me won’t work, doll. Your werewolf buddy still has his hands full and not in his favor.” I ignored him, not because I didn’t believe him, but to keep myself from panicking. When I judged he was close enough, I jumped out from my hiding spot startling him. Before he could recover from his surprise, I dived at him, ramming the blade into his stomach. The sudden impact sent him falling to the ground with me on top of him. As soon as we hit the ground, I rolled off and away, leaving the switchblade in him.
As soon as I was away from him, I quickly got to my feet keeping an eye on him. He had dropped his throwing knives and was clutching the switchblade imbedded into his stomach. I heard him gasp in pain as he struggled to pull it out of his stomach. The blade wasn’t designed to come out easily. Once the blade was out, he struggled to get to his feet, clutching at the open wound in his stomach. I could see the wound already starting to heal itself. “You bitch!” His eyes blazed with such hatred that when I meant his eyes, I broke out in cold sweat. “I’m going to fucking kill you!” Before he could act on his words, Cody came up behind him and knocked his feet out from under him.
When he hit the ground, Cody then grabbed his head and pulled it back. “You’re a dead man if you try that,” then he slammed it into the ground, knocking the guy unconscious. I didn’t look close enough to see if there was any severe damage. Cody looked up at me. “Are you okay?”
I nodded my head. It looked like Cody took a couple of good hits in his fight. His mouth had split open and a black eye. “What about you?”
As if just realizing it, Cody’s hand went to his chin, his thumb wiping away the blood coming from his split lip. He looked down at his thumb as if he was studying it. “Vampires always find a way to draw blood.” He looked up at me. “Besides a few bruises, I’ll be fine. Can you hold this guy’s hands together so I can tie them.”
I did as he asked. Cody picked up a piece of metal bar at his feet. “So that’s a Zombie? Not what I would have pictured.”
Cody chuckled. “Don’t worry, Zombie’s aren’t as invincible as he made it sound.” I watched as the metal bar in Cody’s hand became malleable allowing him to wrap it around the guy’s hands like handcuffs. “You can kill them easily if you snap their necks, sever their heads, or smash their brains. Gun shot or a knife to the brain, they have the same chances as any other person.” Cody stood up and I tested the metal cuffs around the guy’s hands. They didn’t feel malleable. “There’s also a few other things you can learn about Zombies, but that’s all you need to know for now.”
I stood. “How did you do that?”
Cody brushed the question aside. “Later, let's go find a restroom we can clean up before we board the train. Can’t buy the tickets looking like we got into a fight.”
