Leanne Rosalie Van Allen, age 17, comes from a rich family. She doesn't live up to her parent's standards no matter how hard she tries. Her best friend can't understand why they push her so hard when she's already stretched thin. She dances ballet, does voice lessons, learns foreign languages, and still works hard to do all the work her parents hand her. Lee finally gets her break when she and her friend are chosen to go to Australia as representatives of their private school.
Nichole Simpson, age 18, comes from normal, middle-class family composed of herself and her father. She has it pretty easy compared to Lee, but even she has her problems. Her father is dying of cancer and she doesn't want to move to Australia for a year. The school will only pay so much for her and Lee to make it to Australia safely. After its gone, they're on their own for paying the Visas and any other expense. Nikki hides her troubles the best that she can and pushes forward, like she always does.
Neither girl expected to get into the trouble they'll soon find themselves in. Nor did they expect to fall in love with two of the most unlovable people.
