Chapter 9 – In The Arms Of An Angel

This has got to be the best dream I have ever had I thought to myself. I was in state between sleeping and waking up. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

Dylan, I thought as I inhaled his scent. God he smelt nice. I was addicted to his scent. Things were now officially bad since I now found myself dreaming about him and his cologne. I snuggled closer to the scent and inhaled again.

I then noticed a beating heart close to my ear.

Wait, a heartbeat?’ I asked myself confusedly. ‘Since when does my pillow beat like a heart?’

I opened my eyes slowly and noticed I wasn’t in my room. I was on the sofa in my apartment. I then noticed that I wasn’t alone. I was lying on a body which looked a lot like Dylan’s.

Last night came flashing through my mind. I recalled Dylan asking me to be his girlfriend and us kissing on the sofa. I also recalled him falling asleep and that I was supposed to wake him up. I glance at the window on the wall and saw sunlight coming through the curtains.  It was morning. I must have fallen asleep as well.

I always thought I would panic like a lunatic if I ever found myself with a guy like this. But for some reason unknown to me I found myself calm and comfortable being in Dylan’s arms right now. I buried my head onto his chest again and my left hand lightly started to draw circles on his chest. I didn’t want to move just yet even thought I am sure I was crushing him.

After a couple minutes I looked up at him, expecting to see his sleeping face. I froze when my eyes met a pair of sleep filled grey eyes looking at me.

“Good morning,” he told me huskily.

“Good morning,” I whispered back to him as I tried to push my body off him. I felt embarrassed at being caught enjoying his closeness while I thought he was asleep.

His arms tightened around me and held me in place.

“There is no reason for you to be shy,” he told me softly. “You look like an angel when you’re asleep.”

I felt myself flush at his words and I then buried my head into his chest. His body shook as he laughed at my reaction. A moment later, my head turned towards Abby’s bedroom door when I heard a noise. A dishevel Abby, in matching leopard print shorty PJs, walking out her bedroom and froze when she spotted us on the sofa. Her face slowly transformed into an evil smirk as she looked at us.

“Don’t get up on my account,” she told us as she made her way to the kitchen. “Pretend I’m not here.”

I let out a groan and place my forehead on Dylan’s chest. I then hesitantly lifted my head and looked at him. His grey eyes held amusement.

“What’s so funny?” I asked him as I pushed of his chest and attempted to stand. His hands tightened on my hips holding me in place on his lap.

“You are,” he told me as he looked up at me. “You’re acting like a teenager, like you just got caught by your parents, making out with your boyfriend.”

“I am not,” I told him as I blushed.

“You look pretty when you blush like that,” he told me huskily as he sat up. My left leg went over his thighs and I now saw straddling his lap.

His face came close to mine and darkened with lust. His head dipped even closer and just before his lips could meet mine, I pulled back and covered my mouth.
