Caleb's POV
New country, new place, new people.
Moving to another country is hard. You don't know anybody so you don't have anyone to turn to.
I left my freezing cold country of Canada, to live in the boiling hot Australia. My parents wanted to send me here to an All Boy's School for me to "experience different things". I don't even know why I couldn't just go to a normal school, like why does it have to be an All Boy's School?
Shaking my thoughts away, I focused back on the path that leads up to the school. The huge, black double gates open at a rather slow pace as if I was in a movie and a very large fountain appear in my sight. It's a very long walk from the gate to the school. I don't even know why they make such a long driveway.
I'm getting too distracted.
All I need to do to survive this is to keep a low profile. I know because all the books I've read when people move to a different school always ends the same. The person meets the most popular dude or gal and they fall in love, blah blah blah. But this is different, because this is reality.
I finally reach the large fountain, the size larger than it was when I was at the gate. I push my glasses up the bridge of my nose and pat my shaggy brown hair. I slowly walk up the stairs in front of the building and open the door. A bell suddenly rang as I opened the door and all eyes turned to me.
So much for keeping a low profile.
I lower my gaze to the floor and go through the door quickly. When I reached the front desk, the old lady with grey hair pulled up in a tight bun looked up at me. She looked at me through her glasses and pursed her lips.
"I'm assuming you're Caleb? Caleb Roberts?" She said monotonously. I nod my head twice with a small smile.
"Here is your schedule," she explained as she pulled out a black binder, "and here is your dorm room key. Room 110 with your roommate Jason. He's nice, he won't bite. Here is a map of the school incase you need to navigate your way through the classrooms before you go to your classes, which I highly recommend. I know this is a lot to take in, but it's important. Good Luck Kid." She rushed her words that I barely processed it all in my mind but I nevertheless gathered all the things she gave me and scurried out of the office.
I opened the map and searched for Room 110.
"Hey, you new?" A voice asked in front of me. I looked up from the map only to find a boy with messy brown hair.
"Uh, yeah. I'm, uh, trying to find Room 110." I stuttered out.
"Oh! I'm heading that way, I'll show you there. The names Aaron by the way, Aaron Richards." He stated, holding out his fist.
"Caleb. Caleb Andrei Roberts." I introduced myself, bumping his fist lightly.
"Very specific," he chuckled. "I think you're gonna like your roommate, Jace, he's kind of a nerd too. With all the glasses and stuff." He pointed at my glasses and I timidly dropped my head.
"Well, I'm not really a nerd. I actually failed my Biology class." I mumbled out. Aaron just looked at me with amusement before saying a small "C'mon," and walking towards the back of the office.
We reached Room 110 after climbing a small set of stairs. I looked around the hallway and saw about 10 other doors.
"Here's your room, mine's just three doors down. Holla if you need anything." He smiled amd walked away. And, what? Who says holla these days?
