Hi, I'm Nathalie. I'm 18 years old. Currently in 12th grade, studying in Sera Highschool. I'm also a working student. I work at Starbucks. Typical, I know. I receive $200 a month for being a cashier and sometimes the barista if someone calls in absent. I have a bestfriend. Her name is Stephanie. We study in the same school but we have different classes because our courses are different. We met when we were in 6th grade and ever since, I've been giving her surprises for her birthday. Now for her 18th birthday, I want to make it special.
"$2 637. wow. I think this is enough." I said to myself. I saved up a year of my salary and some from my allowance for my surprise for Stephanie. I've searched up some sites that rents cheaper cars and I found the perfect one. So, I'm planning on going on a roadtrip with her. I saved up enough money for the car, gas, and groceries we needed. It is exactly one week until her birthday so I gotta move fast.
I stood up from my bed, turned off my laptop and went to change my clothes. I grabbed my backpack and phone and went downstairs. "MOM! DAD! I'm going out!" I shouted from downstairs, not even bothering to wait for their reply. I got out of the house when Stephanie texted me.
Steph: Hey Nath, I can't come over. sorry x
Me: Oh yeah, it's okay :))
She isn't coming over again. Well, I expected that 'cause it has been like that for weeks already.
I rode my bicycle to the place where I can rent the car. It was like a 30 minute ride but I'm used to it. As soon as I got there, I was welcomed by numerous cars parked in the front. I went to look for the person in charge and well he is the one who saw me. "Well, what is a beautiful girl like you, doing down here?" He asked. "Uhm, I need to rent a car." I replied. "What's the occasion? And yeah, I got the perfect one for you." He added. "Oh it's just a surprise for my bestfriend. It's her birthday in a week." I told him while he was leading me to the car. "Well, take care of this girl. Just bring it back whenever you're done using it. That'll be $300." He said while throwing the keys at me which I failed to catch. "Err $300? I think I saw outside that renting a car is for $500?" I asked him. "Nah it's fine, kid. Have fun on your roadtrip." He told me. "Ohmy, thank you thank you mister. See you!" I waved bye, leaving the place. I put my bike at the back of the car and left. Good thing, I know how to drive a car.
I got home and well, since Steph isn't coming over, I'm just going to stay in and chill.
---------- After 1 week ----------
A week have passed and I have been busy throughout. I fixed the car and basically turned it into a small house. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I don't know if she'll like the surprise and WAH I'M FREAKING OUT. Okay so I packed some clothes and the groceries are for later. I went to say goodbye to my parents and got out of the house with everything I need for this road trip.
I arrived at Steph's house just in time when i noticed a car parked right outside their house. I parked mines behind it and went outside. I rang the doorbell and Steph's dad answered it. "Hi, Mr. R!! Good Morning." I beamed. "Oh hello Nath. Come in, Steph's inside." He offered. I didn't bother to ask him whose car is outside. I went up to Steph's room. "Hey Steph?" I said while opening her door. "Oh hey, Nath. What are you doing here?" She asked. Oh she's with Faeleen. The girl she has been hanging out with. "Oh uh I actually have a surprise for you 'cause you know it's your birthday." I said nonchalantly. "Oh yeah? What is it?" She asked. "I rented out a car and we're supposed to have a roadtrip." I told her. "Oh shit really? I'm so sorry but I can't. Fae here and I already planned the day out. I'm sorry." She told me. "Oh uh. It's fine, I guess. I'm going to go. Sorry for disturbing your time." I said sadly. "Yeah." She said. "Happy Birthday, Steph. I love you." I said while leaving. I guess she didn't hear it 'cause I heard them laughing at something.
