I love you- Have a bit of hope

This is for "Have a bit of hope" this a Elena and Caleb short.

When I was six I said the most embarrassing thing to Caleb. I was a kid so I didn't think anything of it. Even after all we have been through together it is one of the most embarrassing things. It was around the time I actually started to recognize my feelings for him.

Everyone knew that I preferred him over a lot of people sometimes even more than my own sisters. I was the person he had to look after, of course he cared for me. Caleb hair wasn't as long as it is now and he didn't have the scar on his cheek yet, but that's a story for another time. 

It happened at dinner one night. I was sitting in-between Lizzy and Caleb, who were talking about a book. Mother and father were talking about alliance with the Kaminah  kingdom because of Lori's engagement to the young king, Gina. Tugging on the red haired teen's shirt. He look at me, and smiles.

"Lady Elena, What's wrong?"

"Caleb, what does marriage mean? And why does Lori need it?" 

No one said a word and all their eyes got a bit big. I swear, Caleb was about to have a heart attack or something, his eyes got really big, his face turned a bit red and and he started stuttering. He looked from mother to father, who both nodded.

"Well, Elena, Marriage is a commitment between two people who love each other, to live together for the rest of their lives, start a family and be happy.  Like your mother and father. Sometimes two kingdoms decide the other has something the other one needs, so out of the royal princes or in our case princesses, they marry to form an alliance. She is marrying the king so that way we can have the support of his kingdom."

"Caleb, what does love mean to you?"

He blushes at the question looks straight ahead and says.

"Milady, What love means to me, is caring so deeply for the other person that you would lay down your life for that person. Love means you can't stop thinking about them and want to marry them. That's how your parents feel about each other, how they feel about you and your sisters, and the people of this kingdom."

That's when I said it. He began drinking some tea.

"Caleb"

"yes, Elena"

"I love you, so when I'm big. Let's Get Married!" I said with the biggest smile on my face.

He spit out all his tea and dropped his cup. Lizzy, Lori, mom, and dad all started laughing so hard.
