Prompt/plot idea:

Jongdae and Yixing have been best friends since diapers. They've done everything together, played the same games, went to the same schools and went through thick and thin-but stuck together and helped each other through it. For the first time Yixing and Jongdae separated for a bit while Jongdae's family went on vacation- leaving Yixing behind for once.

It was a warm summer day in Seoul. A couple of clouds decorated the sky, the sun was out and a soft breeze blew through the playground. It was a comforting thing to Yixing, it felt like a hug the way it gently blew through his thick brown locks. A hug he really needed. The nostalgia paired with the loneliness he felt at the moment made his heart ache and watching how these two kids played together on the slides increased it all.

He missed his best friend. Yixing knows his vacation won't be too long and that he should be okay to be on his own for a bit, he is an adult after all. But sitting on the same bench that they've sat on for over a decade, observing the same playground they've played on, makes his chest ache with sadness. All the memories come flooding back in crashing waves and...

Flashback~ 6 years old

"Yixing hyung! Give it back!" Jongdae reaches up, struggling to grip the stuffed dinosaur from his best friend. His nimble fingers grasp at thin air as soft whines leave his lips. Yixing always teased the younger for his childish ways- enjoying how he would just turn so much younger in a span of five seconds. Jongdae's curly brown hair falls in his eyes, momentarily blinding him. Yixing chuckles and holds the stuffed reptile to his chest.

Jongdae always was an athletic one but not as much as Yixing. Yixing took off down the hall of his house with the toy gripped tightly and Jongdae at his heels. "Hyung~" He whines loudly, finally catching his best friend. "Ask for it nicely, Jongdae-ah!" Yixing likes to play with him. "Hyung, please! My dinosaur means a lot to me! I'm sorry for laughing at your unicorn obsession." Jongdae's voice is soft and sincere. Jongdae had laughed at Yixing as most seven year old boys loved hot wheels cars and -like him- dinosaurs, but instead Yixing found a love in the magical healing creature. So, Yixing took it to slight offense and took Jongdae's second favorite thing in the world, his precious dinosaur named XingXing. Just after his favorite possible thing on Earth. His best friend, Zhang Yixing.

"Only because you asked nicely, Jongdae-ah. Next time it's out the window." Both boys knew Yixing would never have the heart to do that as -besides Yixing- it's the only thing that puts the small boy to sleep. Jongdae had nodded with wide eyes, smiling brightly as XingXing was given back to him. "Thank you, Hyung! You are daebak!" Yixing chuckled and ruffled Jongdae's messy mop of hair. "Anything for you, Jongdae-ah."

End of Flashback

A small tear slipped down the brunette's cheek. Jongdae had been gone for a little over a week and he's already a mess. He wipes his eyes and sighs, slipping one of his earbuds in. He plays a soft song and quietly sings along. It's Jongdae's and his favorite song, Everytime by Punch. They used to be obsessed with it as small children. He receives a text from the said boy.

Hey. Where are you?

Yixing smiles, Jongdae was always one to worry about his well being.

I'm in our park. How come?

He presses send and smiles at a small chipmunk, playing with his shoelace.

Just checking up on you. I'll be home soon, Yixing. Don't miss me too much.

Yixing rolls his eyes.

What makes you think I miss you?

He smiles a bit at his cocky message. "Then why are you crying?" Yixing jumps at the voice and stands, turning to face his best friend. "Jongdae-ah!" Jongdae lets Yixing run into his arms smiling happily. He laughs a bit at his best friend and rubs his back lightly. "So you did miss me, huh." Jongdae teases. "Shut up and come push the swing for me, Dinosaur ."
