The next day it was warm and comfortable the fields had finally been cleared and I was sitting on the deck. My knee was up to my chest as I stared out at the parsnips growing. I smiled as I looked up at the sky with the clouds slowly going by. I could also fall asleep.
Sure enough that is what I did I was laying on the deck now snoring when a shadow appeared over me looking down at me. "Hi Mister!" the cute little voice squeaked as I opened my eyes. I sat up and looked it was a small girl in a purple dress. She looked at me shyly and smiled "My aunt asked me to come down here and-and ask if you would be willing to come down and help us at the ranch" she seemed very shy. I smiled and looked at her. "Well who is your aunt?" I asked. "She's M-Marnie" she said as she turned away. I got up and patted her on the head. "Alright well if your aunt Marnie needs help then let's go"
The girl giggled as we started to walk towards the south exit of the farm. I would be good to get to know the villagers more and what better way than helping them out with tasks. Sure enough the little girl was leading me to the ranch that was near Leahs cabin.
You know you never told me your name little one?" I said. She smiled up at me "My name is Jas." I smiled down at her and nodded as we went in to be greeted by Marine. "Ah Mr. Marcus Lewis told me all about you." She walked over to me from behind her counter and gave me a big hug. "I'm Marnie and I'm so happy to meet you" I smiled she seemed friendly enough.
She brought me into the kitchen and we sat down. "So Jas said you needed some help?" Marnie nodded "Yes would you mind helping me with some of the animals here on my ranch it seems my nephew Shane couldn't help today cause he got called into work early.
I nodded and smiled "Sure it would be great to get a little first-hand experience on ranching." Marnie smiled and took me over to the holding pins. It was amazing as she showed me around telling me about the different types of cows and chickens. At least it was amazing till we got to the pig pins. "I need you to clean out the pig pins now I know its dirty work but that is what ranching is also about, Caring for your animals" I nodded as I grabbed a shovel and let out a sigh.
The day went by as Marnie instructed me on what to do from brushing horses to milking cows to even shearing sheep. Soon enough the day had seemed to of gone by and I was tired now. Marnie took my hand and smiled "Thank you so much for helping me." I nodded as I headed for the door and thanks her again for the lessons.
Afterword's I walked over to the saloon a tall frost pale ale would do me just fine after working so hard today. I opened the door and was greeted by everyone there. I waved as I took my normal spot at the counter. Gus smiled as he slid me one of the cold pale ales and Emily walked over to me "Tough day hun?" She said. I smiled "Just another day in the life of being a farmer" I said.
The night went by and before long after a few pale ales I was stumbling back home. I walked up opening the door and went to bed sleeping solid.
