"Hey you guys want to go and see the lorax?" my dad asked us.
"I'd love too, it looks so cute!" I replied.
"Meh, sure why not." Conor said.
Of course I wanted to see the lorax-maybe not with my dad and stupid kid brother but the lorax is the lorax. And besides, those trailers had singing fish! Who doesn't love singing fish?
"Alright. I'll get us tickets for the 3:20 showing." dad said.
"Beep beep." that was my iPod. My parents think that 13 is too young for a phone so I have an iPod touch with which I have one person I can text. Brandon.
"Hey you have any plans for today?"
"Yeah why?"
"Oh I was wondering if you would want to hang with me and some friends at the Greenwood mall."
Hmmmm... do I want to hang with my embarrassing family at the movies or with my friends at the mall.....Mall!!!
"Dad can I hang with Brandon and some of his friends at the mall instead?"
"Sure, as long as you're back before 9."
Sweet. I get to hang out with Brandon and his high school friends. By the way, Brandon is four years older than me but we've known each other all our lives from church.
"Scratch that - I'm comin with you" I texted back.
"Alright pick you up in 10."
I ran upstairs and quickly grabbed my purse and threw twenty bucks in there.
10 minutes later Brandon showed up with Evan, Navarre and Rachel.
"Road trip!" Rachel yelled.
"This is not much of a road trip, the mall's only half an hour away. By definition a road trip is at least two and a half." That was Navarre, always full of quirky facts.
"If I wanted the definition I would've gotten a dictionary."
"Who cares, let's go!" I yelled.
Half an hour later.....
"Alright we're here! What do you guys wanna do first, wait, lemme guess-Laser tag?" Brandon asked.
"Hell yeah!" Evan said.
So we made our way over to Roo's Playhouse where they had laser tag, video games and a ballpit for kids. Apparently we weren't allowed in it. Phooey.
"Five people for a twenty minute laser tag please." Brandon said.
"Alright sweeeeetie. That'll be 50 bucksssss." the old lady replied. She smelled of alcohol and she stretched her words out a little too long. I'm not sure if I trust her with laser tag, but who else was there?
We all handed her 10$ but I had to exchange change with Navarre. After that she led us over to the area and strapped us all into our vests.
"There are some thiiings you needs to know before you can playyyyy laser tag. First, no shooooting at the facial area. Second, no shooting at your partners. That willllll cause your team to lose points. Third, if you want a challllenge, you can try and shoot the big statue in the middle at its weak spot. But beee careful because it can shoot back. Now how are we dividingggg the teams?"
"Boys against girls!" Brandon yelled.
"Huhh huh yeah! That'll show 'em!" Evan said.
What choice did Rachel and I have, it was three against two.
"Fine." we both said in unison.
"Alllrighty then. 3, 2, 1, go!"
And we were off.
