20 years young Ansley Yazzie went through a point in her life where 'use to' seemed to be a common duo of words that described her perfectly.

Ansley use to smile all the time. She use to laugh and giggle at the simplest things. The little things in life use to count. She use to let her heart guide her when making decisions. She use to wear her heart on her sleeve. She use to give people the benefit of the doubt. She use to believe in love, that there was a perfect somebody out there for everyone. She use to believe she had that.

But now?

Now Ansley was guarded. She had trust issues beyond anyone's belief. For a while she was against the male species. Sam's rejection had made her bitter, had her thinking all guys wanted from her was one thing. She would turn down any guy that looked her way, not hanging out, dating, or talking to.

However, as she matured into the young woman she is today, she knew she had to let the hate she held in her heart go. She simple grew up and got better.

It was never in her nature to hate. Hers was to nurture and love, helping anyway she could. Spreading love. As time went on, Ansley found herself feeling more like...well, herself. Back to smiling like she use to. Laughing like she use to. Helping others out like she use to. Yeah, the old Ansley, the better and friendlier Ansley, was back and on the road to happiness.

Ansley wasn't quiet whole though. She couldn't help but feel as though something was missing. She just didn't know what.

She had been away for 2 years, finishing up school. Having gone for medical assisting, it didn't take too long for her to get her degree, especially with doubling up on credits and her great study habits. Ansley was returning to La Push to be closer to her father. Ansley and her father were extremely close, him being a single parent and her being an only child. The two had a very open relationship and spoke several times a week. Sure the town she was from was small, but it was home. That is where they say the heart is right?

So she applied for a job at the local clinic and all prayers were answered when Sue Clearwater called and offered her the position. In a matter of days she was all pack and headed back to La Push from Arizona state. Not bothering to sleep on the short plane right to Washington the excitement built the closer and closer she got to her final destination. Getting out of the rent-a-car she only bothered to grab one of her bags and threw over her shoulder heading to the front door.

She suddenly became nervous to seeing her father for the first time in years, as she cautiously opened her front door -that he always kept unlocked- and entered the small home that was enough for the two of them.

"Dad?" Dropping her shoulder bag she slowly walked deeper into the living room.

Nothing.

With a roll of her eyes she headed for the glass door that lead to land out back. Sure enough there was her father coming from the shed with a bunch of fishing gear. Humming a tune with no worry in the world, he looked up making sure he didn't miss a step stopped in his tracks.

"Ansley?" Eyes wide, the older Yazzie was clearly surprised to see her.

To his knowledge she wasn't suppose to be home for another week. Nevertheless, the proud poppa opened his arms wide -dropping everything else in the process- welcoming his little girl home.

"Daddy!" She smiled brightly running towards to older man and leaping into his arm.

Their embrace was warm and tight. Neither one of them wanting to let go.

"I'm glad you're back baby," he kissed the top of her head.

"I'm glad I'm back too."
