Best Friends Are The Best

The bus drops me off in the shady part of town. I walk past people begging for money on the sidewalk. I walk right past because you never know what they are using the money for. I see homeless people sleeping in boxes and clubs filled with drunk people. I hurry past all of this and rush to the small apartment building. I find the key that was deep in my pocket and unlock the door. I smell the regular smell of marshmallows and place my stuff on the couch. When you have a best friend she obviously gives you a key into her apartment. I collapse on the couch and turn on the television avoiding the news channel. How could everything be so smooth until now, I ask myself. I decided on a home renovation channel and curl up against the pillows. I hear the door open and slam shut. I see Jade from the corner of my eye place her purse in the kitchen. Jade looks at me and smiles. I look back at her and try to smile back.

" Argument"? Jade asks coming and sitting down next to me. I nod my head.

" He said he hated me." I explain. Jade's eyes go wide and she shakes her head.

" You know he doesn't mean it right? You know how he gets when he is angry." Jade reminds me.

" But I've never seen him so... angry before." I point out hugging a pillow.

" Maybe he is afraid of losing you." Jade suggest.

" But why would he say that he hates me"? I ask.

" He got angry, people act recklessly to the people who they love when they are angry." Jade points out.

" You should have seen the look in his eyes when Alan told me all that stuff. It was a mix of anger and sadness. Hayden said that Alan was his best friend. Do you think that's true"? I ask Jade. Jade is silent for moment.

" I highly doubt it. If he was then Hayden would have known about Maisie the day it happened. Alan would of talked with him every single day like we do. I don't believe they are best friends." Jade gives her opinion.

" Then why would he say that Alan is his best friend"? I question.

"Because in that moment maybe Alan did feel like his best friend. It was the only emotion he felt for Alan at the time because of Maisie." Jade tries to convince me.

" Maybe he doesn't care about me anymore." I say out-loud.

" No, no, no, no, no! He cares about you soo freaking much Evelyn! I've seen the way he looks at you. I've seen everything Evelyn!" Jade almost yells. I blush and hold the pillow tighter.

" Let's not talk about this okay? I know what will make you feel better." Jade suggest smiling.

" What"? I ask.

" Maybe ice cream from the best ice cream parlor in the whole city"? Jade suggest. I smile and stand up.

" Berry Jeans"? I ask.

" Of course!" Jade exclaims standing up.

" What are we waiting for? Let's go." I say.

We arrive at the ice cream parlor and order our ice cream. I get my regular chocolate mountain explosion and Jade get's the rainbow unicorn power. We sit down and eat our ice cream.

" Remember that time at the cafe when we arrived there and it was closed for renovations? You got so upset that you stomped your feet the entire way home." Jade reminded me. I shake my head and laugh.

" No I didn't! I was mildly upset!" I argue.

" No you caused everyone on the street to look at us and everyone look terrified of you!" Jade argues back playfully. I smile shamefully.

" Well, no one get's between me and my coffee." I joke. We both laugh. We talk like this for what seems like hours but is actually just a half hour.

This is what I want my life to normally be like. Hang out with the people who love me and care about me with no drama. Jade you know who you are in real life and I love you girl. Thank you for everything Jade I love you so much you have no idea. Don't think about all the drama and fighting. Remember the good times and we will make more memories together I just know it. I LOVE YOU JADE!
