We keep behind closed doors
Every time I see you I die a little more
"Damn."
It was a cold, windy night when Ezra arrived at the panoramic view of the city. He automatically turned off the radio and stopped the car. He was damn frustrated. He didn't know exactly what to do.
He sighed and immediately went to the compartment of his car. He opened it and took a can of beer in his cooler.
He decided to open the radio again and then he heard the song for the effin second time. He thought it's finished.
You and I both have to hide on the outside
Where I can't be yours and you can't be mine
He leaned on his car and witnessed the spangling city lights.
Why can't I hold you in the street?
Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor?
He took a sip of the beer and it brings him to the earlier scene. The scenario that made him drove here.
For him, it still fucking hurts.
FLASHBACK
Aria invited Ezra to watch a theatre entitled "Les Miserables". They're both excited not only because of Les Mis but also it's their first anniversary.
Yep. You saw it right. First year anniversary.
Ezra was Aria's instructor on one of her subjects. He was 25 years old, but his unblemished face made him look more like someone's high school aged brother. His wardrobe consisted of long sleeves with different colors, khaki and slack pants which made Aria falling for him even more. For Aria, Ezra was an ideal teacher. He was organized, punctual, has a sense of humor, considerate and others. He was a campus heartthrob and famous for grabbing the "Most Handsome Prof" award in two consecutive years. All of his students liked him, most especially girls. And that was one of Aria's disadvantages, she has many rivals when it comes to Ezra.
"Sir! Are you in a relationship?" Aria's classmates asked. Gays and gals started to scream.
"I'm engaged." He said as he looked straightly at Aria's eyes. For Aria, it was a creepy sign.
There were loud exasperation sighs came from the corridor.
But one thing is for sure, Aria was the only girl who made Ezra's heartbeat faster and slower at the same time.
On the other hand, Aria was 18 years old. She was just an average student and a typical girl. She had developed a crush on Ezra when she was on her first year college. Ezra always gives signs to Aria. Signs that telling her that he likes her. One example is the birthday greeting which is unusual for Ezra because he wasn't always doing that especially to his students. At first, Aria assumed about everything and she's always asking for some advices from her best friend, Spencer, who was the only one who knew about this. Later on, Aria didn't care about these signs. She always believed that, if it's meant to be, it will be.
"Miss Montgomery?"
"Yes, Sir?"
"I like you."
It felt like there was a zoo having a riot in her stomach.
Eventually, Ezra confessed to Aria that he likes her. It was an eerie feeling for her. Aria can't believe on what he's saying. Ezra proves to her every day that it's true. He courted Aria. But, it was not an ordinary courting. Every day was a challenge. Hiding from those judgmental people was not easy.
