( authors note- this is a story about why princess Azula is the way she is. I did not take any of it from the episodes =) please comment and vote if you liked)

I had to be perfect. I had no other choice but to be. Perfection in FireLord Ozi- my father-'s eyes was considred mantadory. My brother, prince Zuko, on the other hand is not perfect.

When he was 13, he attended a war meeting where my father planned an invasion on the largest earth kingdom capital, Ba sing se. Zuko was surprised at how advanced father was thinking. Many had tried to break through the walls of Ba sing se, but none prevailed.

I remember sitting at the right hand side of my father, as Zuko, who was on the left, spoke out of turn.

"But father, Ba sing se is the worlds largest earth capital. We'll never be able to penetrate its walls"

Fathers eyes came alive and fire roared around him. "Zuko, you dare speak out of turn? How dare you insult the fire nations brilliant plans! You fool! By insulting the fire nation' you insult me directly!" I couldn't help but smile. Much like father, I used fear to control people. It was a... trait. I wanted so badly to laugh out loud as I heard Zuzu's (my nickname that irritates him) voice tremble.

"N..no father, I, I " he stammred. "I challenge you to an agniki, Zuko"

My father was so predictabe. An agniki was a battle fought out by firebenders. The first firebender down loses and is shamed for the rest of thier miserable, dull life.

But I knew Zuzu too well. He wouldn't dare stand up to father, but he wouldn't dare defy him either.

My father walked down the black, high throne steps, as Zuko walked down his. In the middle of the war room was a large platform for scale models of the four nations, water air, earth and fire. Many servents rushed to clear the platform out as my father took his stance on the far right hand side. Although the light was dim, I could see fear in Zuko's hazel eyes. Zuko took his stance at the far left. I crossed my left leg over my right and folded my arms.

How I loved agniki's.

I saw an uproar of fire shoot from fathers direction and heard a pained scream escape from Zuko.

He fell to the floor and kept on screaming. My father had unperfected him by burning a section around his right eye.    HA!!! My imperfect brother had brought shame on himself.

Uncle Iro, who loved Zuzu more than anything flinched as his precious nephew lay on the floor, shaking. Firelord, the general and all the sevants left. Unclr Iro ran up to Zuko and cradled him like the pathetic child he was. The sort of cradiling I never got from my now banished mother.

I yearned for that cradiling. I felt myself feeling sorry for Zuko.

Truth is, although I don't seem it, I'm insecure. Want to know why? I'll tell you why...
