I brushed my hand across his cheek. He took a breath in, ever so softly. Ah, he's sleeping. I laid my head upon his chest. Thump. Thump. Thump. His heart was so loud. I reached my hand up to his lips. Time stopped. My thumb slowly made it's way across. Oh, so dry. I rose to met him. Oh, and how the world silenced itself just for this moment. Tonight was the last night. When, noise finally made it's way back, police sirens were outside the door. "Goodbye, prisoner. Goodbye, lover." He slowly, tiredly, opened his soft hazel eyes. "Let me go, you lunatic!" Ah. I smiled, and he froze in fear. "I love you," I whispered. He widened his eyes. And, the door burst opened.
