So, I didn't really expect it to happen - this interview, my dad sort of forced me, told me I was smart and when I found out I actually had the grades then I changed my opinion on it. It's in America, this university I'm in an interview with, in California. It's a massive step, I know. But it's my life and I guess this is what I want to do.

Or what your dad wants to do.

I'm sat in one of those really comfortable leather chairs and I'm literally sinking into it but I feel intimidated by it, I know, I know, It's a chair. But seriously, this is UCLA; my dad's dream university. And mine, of course. But I guess it's going well.. My friends are at their interviews too.. Back in England; they have no idea that I want to go to UCLA, I just haven't told them yet. I've always been terrible at goodbyes. We still have a whole summer together before University, that's if we all get in, but it's going to be the summer of our lives.

"So, Ava , what are your interests?" She asks me, with those green eyes of hers. You know when you meet somebody and you're jealous of their eyes? Yep, that's happening right here. I have no idea what to say.. If being a fangirl counts, then I would say that but I don't think that qualifies..

"Horse riding. A lot of horse riding." I babble on, not realising what I said. Horse riding, who rides horses these days?! If she wants me to demonstrate, I just might die.

"Ah.. Interesting.." I might just be able to pull all of this off if I wasn't such a bad actor.

She asked me a few more questions about me. This interview seemed to drag and I had been yawning when she wasnt looking but this is UCLA. I have to make a good impression. But horses? What was I thinking?! I don't even like them.

"So Ava, we're going to need to see you again in exactly two months for freshers week. Just so you can settle down and meet some new people just before the term starts" She smiled.

"Wait, does this mean you're giving me a place?!" I squealed.

"Definitely, I've seen your work and I'd be stupid not to give you the spot"
