No More Tears

The tears flowed down her face in a never ending torrent.

"I'm an idiot!"

"How could I be so stupid. Should have never come to this place," Branwenn moaned in despair.

She kicked the sand at her feet with unnecessary force. Gripping the chains of the swing so tight that her knuckles paled.

"Maybe I should just leave. Leave this town and go somewhere far away. Somewhere it won't matter how much of a freak I am," she wondered aloud.

As she swung her legs back and forth, heedless of how high she was going, she began to contemplate where she could go.

"Maybe Oregon, I always wanted to see the ocean and there are so many forests there I could just get a place far away from everyone."

"I hear that Alaska is pretty nice this time of year and plenty of forests to get lost in." Rumbled a deep voice behind her.

"Too cold, but maybe I should go there. As cold hearted and mean as I am I would probably fit right...wait!"

Finally registering that she was no longer alone, Branwenn quickly hopped of the swing and spun around.

"You..cold? Nothing could be further from the truth," the man chuckled.

"Liam?"

"Yes, darling?"

A shiver ran up her spine at his words. Something about the way he called her darling made her insides turn to mush.

"What..what are you doing here?," she questioned while wiping away the last of her stray tears.

"I was on my way to class when I heard you talking. What are you doing out here?

Shifting nervously she muttered, "Oh I..uh..well...I just needed some air..I guess."

He gave her a penetrating stare and she was sure he didn't believe her, but he simply responded with, "So what's in Oregon?"

Branwenn's mind blanked. Not understanding where this new shift in the conversation came from.

"Oregon?"

He gave her a quick grin, "the place you were planning on running off to?"

Blinking she quickly recovered, "Oh..Oregon..right. I was just thinking about...my next vacation destination is all," she chuckled nervously.

"You mean the place you were running away to."

The color drained from her face.

"You heard that?"

"Afraid so," he said while taking a seat in the swing next to her.

At first she was a little hesitant on whether or not she should join him. After all she barely knew him. Should she really be baring her heart to him, no matter how kind he had been so far?

However, he simply waited patiently and patted the swing next to him.

With a hug sigh she sank down on the swing she had previously occupied. For some reason, which she could not fathom, she could not say no to this boy.

Once she was seated, Liam's face broke out in a wide smile.

"Alright, there is obviously something bothering you, so do you mind telling me what it is?"

Heaving a great sigh she looked over at her companion and said, "Shouldn't you be in class or something?"

"Shouldn't you?"
