One day, at the time of thahajjud Salah, Muhammad(SAW) was walking through the streets of Madina. (I will have to make sure if it was Madina or Makkah, but I'm pretty sure it was Madina.)

He walked from outside of Omar(RA)'s house and heard Omar reading really really loud.
Then when he walked from the outside of Abu Bakr(RA)'s house, he heard Abu Bakr reading really really low.

The next day he called both, Abu Bakr and Omar, to come by him. He asked Omar why he was reading so loud. Omar replied,"I was reading loud because I know the value and reward of thahajud Salah, and people weren't awake so I was reading loud so everyone can wake up,read it, and gain the reward."
Then he asked Abu Bakr(RA) why he was reading really low. Abu Bakr replied, "I was reading low because I have neighbors and I didn't want to disturb them with my Salah."

Then the Prophet(SAW) said to Omar, " you read a little lower" and to Abu Bakr "and you read a little louder" (So basically their voice would be in the same level now).  Then Muhammad (SAW) said to both, "First you have been doing what you thought was better, but now you will get more reward because you are doing what I told you would be better."

Note: This is not a word by word hadith or story.  So this story is in more or less words. I just really liked the lesson that was given in it.

Lesson: Now a day, we all try to do stuff our "own" way.  So when we hear about the prophet Muhammad(SAW) and how he use to do it. We say, "well that was the old time" and then we go on and change stuff that were right, into wrong.
In this story Abu Bakr(RA) and Omar(RA) were both right in their own way and very considerate. But then Muhammad(SAW) told them they would get more reward if they do as he told them. So just think when we do something our "own way" it isn't even right. So we shouldn't change the prophets ways, because he was a guide for us all. Whether in the past or future, his ways are the BEST.
