The Dream

I struggled to run as I heard the pounding of giant footsteps behind me. A colossal hand emerged between two trees, and the gigantic creature revealed itself. The titan towered over me, an evil grin on her face. The skinless monster began to reach out her hand. The more I ran, the more my feet became stuck to the ground. A slim figure emerged up ahead, a short man's silhouette that was outlined by an aura. The captain.

"Levi!" I cried as I struggled to run even more. My feet were glued to the ground and Levi seemed to get farther and farther away.

I awoke, my body covered in sweat, my heart pounding like it was about to explode. Just another dream, I told myself. Just another dream. Most of my life had been peaceful and happy, but ever since the titans had gotten through the walls, I had been plagued my recurring nightmares. I dreamed of being attacked, being devoured, being a victim of a titan.

Our captain, Levi Ackerman was the only human who ever appeared in my dreams. Having won each and every battle with the titans, Levi often played the role of a "dream hero" the one who would rescue me in my dreams. Or at least attempt to. It was a long time before it occurred to me that I had developed a crush on the short, tough, man.

"Y/N!" A deep voice yelled from outside of my room. "You're late for training!"

"C-coming captain!" I yelled back nervously. I must have slept in. I quickly put on my training outfit and made my way outside.

"Morning Y/N," my friend Mikasa greeted me with a smile. "Ready to spar?"

"Totally," I replied sarcastically.

"C'mon Y/N," my other friend Eren said. "It's not that bad. It's not like we're fighting real titans."

"I know," I sighed. "But I'm about as strong as a mouse."

"Mice aren't strong."

"That's my point."

"You guys, quit talking, and get to work!" another voice cut in, and I turned around to see Levi standing with his arms folded. "Y/N, stop making up excuses and train. Now!"

"Y-yes captain!" I said under my breath. Levi could really be scary sometimes.

I stood still, back straight, heavy sword in hand, waiting for Mikasa to make a move. Mikasa thrust her sword out of its holder, and held it in front of mine. The sparring began.

Later:

"Alright guys, enough for today," Captain Levi growled after I lost a match for the thousandth time. "Now get cleaning!" he then walked back inside the house.

"Sheesh," I said. "I swear, that man must have been a women in a past life."

"I know right?" Eren replied. "He must have OCD or something."

"Oh, shut up," I snapped. "You know OCD has nothing to do with cleaning."

I had OCD so I knew what it was really like.

"He looks sad all the time," Mikasa put in.

"I know," I said. "Even a clean room doesn't seem to cheer him up."

A sudden thought made me giggle.

"What?"

"The other day," I said. "I could've sworn I heard him whistling the tune of "What Makes you Beautiful."

Mikasa and Eren both burst out laughing.

"Who knew Levi was a One Direction fan," Eren said.

"Just because I have a song in my head, doesn't mean I like it brat," a voice cut in from behind us. Levi.

"S-shut up," I stuttered. "If anyone is bratty here, it's you!"

"Tsk," Levi grunted in response. "Y/N, I'll see you in my office."
