Late Night Terror

           The night was cold and dark. The tempature reached the lowest it had been all winter. Worst of all, the heater had gone out. Will sat in his room, cold and afraid. He wanted to move but the coldness would get worse if he moved. He decided to stay in his bed. As he was drawing to sleep, a banging came from the front door. Will went to see who was at the door. When Will reached the door, a crash came from the window next to the door. The mystery being shot and broke the window. At that moment, Will knew it wasn't one of his neighbors. Will ran to his parents room as fast as he could physically run. He told his parents about the situation and they agreed to see if their son was lying. His parents saw that he wasn't lying about the situation at hand. His parents did have one question for him. "Where did the mystery being go?" said his parents in unison. Will responded with "He was here a minute ago. You don't think he is trying to get in through the back." Will stayed at the front of the house while his parents went to the back. Two minutes passed before Will heard his father scream "Grab the gun, quick!" Will opened the gun safe in his parents' room and grabbed the pistol. He brought to his dad, careful not to pull the trigger. His dad grabbed the gun out of Will's hand and shot 3 bullets through the door. "Why did you shoot at the door?" Will asked. His dad responded with, "He is right outside the door. If I was lucky, one of the bullets hit him." They opened the back door to see him on the ground, in pain. They took him to the hospital where they said that he should make a full recovery.

          In the morning, we visited him where they said he was trying to find a warm place to sleep. They accepted his reasoning and apologized for shooting him. Will and his family told the police to drop all charges. The heater started working a few days later. When the "mystery" got out of the hospital, Will and his family invited him over for dinner. They all ate turkey that Will's parents cooked up earlier that day. Will's family finally asked why he was trying to get inside for warmth. He said that he was homeless and couldn't get a job. Will discussed with his parents on whether he could stay with them or not. They came to the conclusion to let him stay with them until he could get a job. He finally got a job and moved out.

That was one of the many life experiences of Will.
