If you have not yet read Ready Player One by: Ernest Cline, then I would highly recommend reading that first because this book will contain spoilers. Thank you! In case you didn't remember what happened at the end of the book, here's a little refresher. After wade told the other gunters how to clear the second gate and find the crystal key, he let himself get caught by IOI to become an indentured worker. There, he used a series of IOI passwords he bought on the OASIS black market to break in to there system and find out what they were hiding, turns out IOI had profiles on the gunters they were targeting (Art3mis, Aech, Shoto, Parzival, Daito (deceased)).
Wade was able to escape with this info and tell the other gunters, they sent out an email to every OASIS player to attack Castle Anorak. IOI was almost defeated until they detonated the Catalyst, which killed everyone except Parzival, who had an extra life from a magical item he had. IOI was playing cheap, and since Parzival was the only non IOI person that was capable of winning the hunt, he agreed to split the winnings with the other 3 gunters as a sign of honor. With there help, he was able to clear the last gate and find the egg, becoming the new owner of the OASIS.
Wade finally met Art3mis in person and there contact ended with a kiss, and Wade no longer had a desire to log into the OASIS.
