"Come on... get up." I whispered. A faint metallic smell hung in the air as I smiled down at the man under me. He groaned in pain and I snickered. I stood up and gave him a hard kick to his ribs. He gave a tired, but loud, yelp and coughed up blood.

"Oh come on, it wasn't even that hard of a kick." I frowned. He could kill all those innocent people, torture them even; yet he couldn't take a single blow himself? Stupid bastard. I crouched down to the ground and forcefully grabbed his chin. His eyes slowly fluttered open, though he looked as if that single action gave him immense pain. I smirked and quietly dug out one of my knives in my coat. Upon seeing the deadly weapon in my hand, the man's eyes widened and his breathing turned into short, fast pants.

"No.....please. Spare me," he begs. I wave the knife in his face and pretend to think.

"Hmm....no." I cackle and bring the knife down. Blood splatters everywhere. On my clothes, my hands, the walls: practically everywhere. His eyes roll back and his breathing comes to a stop. His hand, which had been holding the knife that he was desperately trying to stop from killing him, now lay limp beside him. I sat there, fascinated by the bright red substance covering his chest. Moments later, I grab the knife and pull it out, making a soft 'squelch' sound. I quickly got up and took one last look at the body before completely coating my fingers in his blood. I walk to a wall that wasn't covered in much blood and start to write. When I was finished, I stepped back to admire the dripping, red words.

"Perfect," I whispered. I looked around me, making sure that nobody was out to see what I had done. I looked at the wall one more time and jumped onto a roof, starting to run back home. As I'm running, I feel a presence behind me. I spin around and I'm surprised when I feel myself getting pushed and falling down from the roof. I spin around and safely land on my feet, looking up at the dark figure, whom was still standing on top of the roof staring down at me. I squinted, trying to identify the person.

"Bloody hell," I whisper to myself. "It's him again."

In a flash, a wave of air rushes past me and I turn around to see the mysterious figure behind me. Alert and ready to pull out my weapon, I call out to the dark figure.

"Who are you? What do you want?" I take a step back. The figure doesn't answer, but instead it moves forward. I hold out a dagger.

"Don't come any closer." After moments of silence, the figure finally steps out of the shadows and into the light. Judging by their height, it was a man, but I couldn't tell for sure. He was dressed in all black, using that advantage to hide in the shadows. Though I'm surprised when the figure starts to speak. His voice was deep; so deep, it startled me.

"Ms. Anonymous," he holds his hands up in a friendly gesture, though I could see past his gentle voice. "I mean no harm, though it would be splendid if you would quietly come with me."

"Follow you? What idiot would be stupid enough to follow you?" The corner of his mouth lifted up and he smirked. A small growl emitted from the back of my throat. How dare he smirk at me? Does he know who he's talking to? I am Anonymous! One of the top assassins!

"Either you leave me alone," I raised the dagger higher. "Or you get hurt." He tilted his head back and laughed. Surprised, I lower my dagger and that was when he attacked. His head snapped back forward and he came at me so fast, all I saw was a black blur. Before I could raise my weapon back up, I felt something slice my cheek and I stumbled back. I bring my hand up to touch my stinging cheek and my eyes widen at the sight of blood on my fingers.

"Oh please. We all know how clumsy you are, Anonymous," I hear him say behind me. I reach into my cloak and grab a better weapon. After all, he seemed strong. Not as strong as me, but strong. There was no way I could beat him with a small dagger. I turn around and see him wiping off the blood from my cheek from his sword. I glare at him and he returns an amused smile.

"I may be clumsy but at least I finish my missions!" I run towards him. He looks abnormally calm and raises his sword. Swinging down my weapon on his, sparks fly around us as the metal blades clash. We both stumble back, due to the strength we both put in our swings. I hurriedly straighten up and run towards him once more.

"Come on!" I swing at him and he blocks. "Is that all ya' got?" I swing again and this time he has trouble blocking it. I smirk. He's getting tired. He just made this a lot easier.

"Aww, you getting tired?" I keep swinging and he continued to block, with great effort.

"It seems it is almost time for my departure." He grunts. He starts to slowly back up to the wall. I laugh.

"What? But the real fun has just begun!" I swing down harder and when our swords clash, his goes flying out of his hand. I point the tip of my sword to his neck.

"Any last words," I whisper. "Mr. Cody?" Sweat drips off both of our faces, seeing as how we were fighting for a long time. He panted and I wiped off sweat from my brow.

"As a matter of fact, I do." I raised an eyebrow.

"Well, what is it?" He looked up and I followed him. There was only a roof, though I doubted he could jump up. It was too high.

He looked up at the roof again. "Goodbye!" He ran past me and sprang up on the wall. His hands grabbed at the bricks and he quickly climbed up. I watched as he pulled himself onto the roof. He looked down at me and gave me a sly smile and a wave. I growled. I had forgotten he was the best climber. With one last wave, he left. I huffed and put away my sword.

"I could've had him." Looking back up at the roof for the last time, I spin around and jump onto the other roof, starting to run back home.

'I'll get him later,' I think. 'And his brother.' Quickly and quietly, I continue to run on the roof until I arrive home. Opening the door, I'm met by pitch black darkness.

"Esther?" I call out. I hear a ruffle and the soft padding of feet coming towards me.

"Took you long enough," I hear a whisper. The lights are switched on and I see a girl. My younger sister, Esther.

"Sorry," I give her a lopsided smile. "Cody caught up to me again." She sighed.

"I understand," she switches off the lights again. "Now come. We have school tomorrow." She starts up the stairs and I follow behind her, stifling a yawn.

"Yeah. Goodnight." I open the door to my bedroom and she does too. Upon entering my room, I'm surrounded by darkness, apart from the moonlight coming from my open window. I shut the door and walk to my bed, slipping under the covers.

'Today's mission was unusually easy', I think in the dark. 'Strange.' I push the thought to the back of my mind and close my eyes, eager to get to sleep after the day's events.
