Chapter 1

I dangled my feet, gazing at the sky and thinking about nothing. Suddenly a policeman yelled at me and I jumped out of my reverie. I smiled down at him, 'Hey Mr. danard, can i help you?'

'Get down from there Lily or I'm going to have to call the orphanage again' he called back. I graoned. Now would probably be a good time to mention that I was sitting on top of a bus shelter. It would also be a good time to mention that I do a lot of impulsive stuff, which is why I know the majority of the police force rather well, having spent a lot of time in their "care".  According to the doctor I have a condition called ADHD which means that i do a load of crazy stuff, like mixing random chemicals in science class just to see what would happen. It wasnt pretty and that school got rid of me pretty quick. To be honest a lot of schools get rid of me pretty quick. Im in 7th grade and I've started a new school each year. I'm not sure why, but it might just have something to do with the fact that I always seem to blow up buildings or detroy stuff. The teachers probably cant wait to get rid of me, even though I swear its not my fault. Anyway, I didn't need the stupid orphanage to hear about any more stuff or they might get rid of me too. To be honest though I wouldn't really mind. 'Brightways orphanage' is a place for difficult kids. Yeah you say most orphans could be classed as 'difficult' but this place is for the ones that are really special. Like me.

I jumped down, shoved my hands into my jeans pockets, flicking back my long blond hair as I did so. I was tall and athletic with dark green eyes. I would have been the jealousy of all my friends with my amazing tan that just came naturally, if i had any that is. Nah, I mean I have one friend. His name's Ash and the others joke that we should get together because we both are named after plants. I showed them just how refreshing a toilet water shower could be and lets just say they didn't come back for more. It's not that Ash isn't cute, he's just a bit odd. I'll admit spiders freak me out a bit, but this guy seems to be afraid of everything, which makes me wonder how he ended up at Brightways. I thought about calling him and asking to meet up but I didn't have enough money for a mobile and the orphanage wouldn't buy one for me. So I was surprised when he came barelling down the sidewalk with that odd limping trot he uses, almost knocking me over.

'Whoa man, calm down a sec', I said

'Lily', he panted, getting his breath. 'So glad I found you. We need to talk.'

Without even waiting for my answer, he dragged me off to the nearest cafe, still gibbering like a madman.
