I walked home by myself. Usually I rode in the back seat of our family limo, forced to by my mother because of her irrational fear of me becoming too 'common' in society. But I had told her I was hanging out with Ronald.
As expected she had believed the lie, gushing about her little baby finally having a boyfriend my mom could be proud of.
Ugh.
But I needed some time to think by myself, and that had required the library.
Another 'common' thing my mother didn't approve of.
So that left me as I currently was, walking through the dark streets, shadows shifting around me. My hood was up, and I had one earphone in my ear, quietly playing classical music. I was at peace, content with the silence and emptiness.
At least until I heard a noise.
It was a light footstep, quiet and difficult to notice.
But I noticed.
So I started walking faster, increasing my pace and pulling my hoodie tighter around my shoulders to block out the sudden chill that had bloomed across my skin. The footsteps behind me kept their steady rhythm, slowly getting closer. I kept speeding up continually, until I eventually broke into a run. My hair flew into my face as my lungs burned, adrenaline the only thing keeping me from stopping. And then I realized.
I didn't know where I was.
In my haste to get away I had lost track of my directions, running into a random alleyway.
And now a dead end.
Panick ran through me as I stared at the four brick walls in front of me, my limbs freezing in place. As I frantically scrambled to find an exit, I was so preoccupied with searching I didn't hear them.
I didn't hear the footsteps getting closer.
Until a thick pain exploded on the side of my head before the world went black.

I know its short, I'm sorry! But I am on a vacation and have limited wifi access. I literally wrote this on my phone in twenty minutes in an internet cafe. So I get back home on Thursday and promise to write a long, awesomely dramatic chapter for you all then! Thanks for your patience!
