It had been two days since the incident. Sera was still locked in her room even though today was her 11th birthday, her awakening day. She had just finished her magic lesson with professor Kashi. Sera sighed and then leaned towards the window.

Her house was in a big hectic because of that. Every maids and butlers were preparing for the big party that will be held tonight. She could see it from her window. The backyard had turned into a beautiful flower garden with a lot of table for the guest. There was also a dance floor in the middle. Sera wondered if she could dance with her father tonight.

She heard the sound of a knock on her door. "Come in."

"Miss Seraphine, your mother told us to prepare you for the party." The maid said.

"Okay."

Sera walked away from the window and sat in front of the mirror. She saw her reflection from the mirror. She didn't look like a ten years old girl at all with this puffy eyes and sullen smile.

"Oh Miss. What happened to your pretty face? You should not be crying. This is your awakening day."

"Are my father will be at home tonight?" Sera asked, ignoring her maid's question.

"I'm sorry my dear. I heard that your father is still on the capital city. The Scarlett Queen doesn't allow him to come home for some reason. But he sends you a present. You want to open it now?"

Sera nodded. She immediately ripped off wrapping paper when her maid gave the present to her. It was a necklace with a purple crystal as its pendant that her father sent to her. She found a note lying behind the necklace. Her tears burst out as she read the note, made her maids confused and panicky.

They need about one hour to make Sera calmed down and another hour to change her into the usual Sera.

"Smile, Miss Seraphine. This is your awakening day. You should be happy."

Sera looked to the mirror and tried to give her best smile. She need it to face the guests later.

"Nah... that's better. You look really pretty now."

Sera nodded. The make-up, the accessories, her hair style and her red dress were amazingly turned her into a beautiful little girl. She hoped nobody will notice that she was cried a moment ago. She squeezed her purple pendant, drew breath and blew it before walking out from her room.

'Everything will be alright.' She whispered.

"Evening, Sera." Aidan greeted her.

"Aidan-senpai, you come!" Sera couldn't hide her happiness when she met him.

"What a pretty necklace. Is that from your father?"

"Yes, it is. How could you know it?"

Aidan laughed. "Wild guess."

"Good evening. It seems you are having fun with my daughter." Lady Ignacia said. Her sudden appearance made Sera startled for a while.

"Good evening, Lady Ignacia." Aidan greeted her. "I just say hello to Seraphine."

"Please, give my gratitude for your parent."

"I will."

"Then I'm sorry to interrupt you, but the ceremony is about to begin. I will take Seraphine to get ready."

Lady Ignacia grabbed Sera's hand, then leaving. Her grip was so tight, but Sera must withstand to not groan. She should not embarrass her mother and her family name in front of other people.

Each adult must through an awakening state, once. It happened when they were still a child. When a child reach age eleven, a magic ceremony will be held. A magician will sing a long spell while the musicians are playing a magic song. It was said that the ceremony will help the child to awake the magic inside them. Usually the child will have the similar magic with his/her parent. But what if the child doesn't have any magic?

The sky was clear tonight. The wind blew through gently, made the air became cooler. The summer of this year was really hot.

It was all perfect until the ceremony began.

Sera was looking around to the guest. She knew every eyes were looking at her. They were waiting her to be possess by the magic she had, including Aidan Glaive, the boy who was four years older than her. Aidan gave her a smile and opened his mouth to saying some words.

"Don't be afraid. It will over soon."

Sera nodded and drew breath to calm her mind. Now her eyes fell upon her mother. She could tell by glance that her mother was waiting impatiently.

Sera ever attended a boy's awakening party before. She also witnessed with her own eyes that the boy was possessed with his magic. His eye glowed a little back then. Well, it should occur to her right now, but she felt nothing. She restrained herself from the urge to see a mirror right now.

The song and the music that stopped was the sign that the ceremony had over. Sera could hear the guests were whispered with each other now.

"What's happening?"

"Is the girl doesn't have magic?"

"Isn't Seraphine should be possess by her magic?"

"Poor Lady Ignacia. She only has one child."

"The girl has a curse in her body. That's why she doesn't have magic."

"She must be cursed."

"I can't imagine what will happen to Lord Ignacia once he heard this."

"How come they have a cursed child?"

"Tell me!" Her mother shouted desperately to the magician. "What happen to my daughter? Tell me why was she not possessed? Why?!"

Her mother loud voice woke her up from her own thought. Sera immediately looked around to find Aidan. The boy must know why was she didn't possess. She was sure Aidan could answer it.

Aidan was still standing there, near his parent, but he focuses to the scene where Lady Ignacia was shouting her angry to the magician. Sera walked quickly to approach him.

"Aidan-senpai!" She called.

Aidan turned his gaze. Their eyes met for a second before he decided to follow parent to leave the place. Sera wanted to chase him, but her mother suddenly dragged her.

"Where do you think you are going to?!"

Lady Ignacia was pushing her, harshly until she fell. Her pretty dress was torn apart and got dirty instantly, the moment she touched the ground.

"Answer me. What happen to her?!"

"Your child has no magic inside her body." The magician said. There was no mercy on his face with he answered.

"Why?"

"It seems that she has been cursed by the gods from the moment she was born. I sense no magic at all from her body."

"Is there any way to dispel it?"

The magician shook his head. "No."

For the second time, Sera got slapped from her mother again. This time, her mother did it in front of many people. Sera could hear they gasp at the same time.

"How dare you to not have any magic? How dare you to embarrass me?!" She shouted. Her fingers pointed at Sera.

Sera held her cheek, tried to withstand the pain and the shame. "I'm sorry, Mom. I'm sorry." She whispered softly as she began to cry.

"Don't ever call me Mom again. You are no longer my child." Lady Ignacia said coldly. "Marc! Cast out the guest now and make sure that cursed kid is not running away." She commanded her butler before walked away, leaving her only child who was innocent to cry out loud.
