Tugging at the blue silk of my dress I stared at myself in the full length mirror. The dress I had bought over a year ago that was too tight to zip up now sat comfortably on my wide hips and hugged me in the right places. I was curvy but I wasn't going to lie to myself, I looked hot as hell. Just because I didn't fit into the smallest size or my stomach wasn't completely flat did not take away from the fact that I was still beautiful not matter what size I was.
"Mila, Drew is here..." My mother trailed off as she walked into my room and saw me standing there. "Oh my gosh, honey you look beautiful. You wore your hair natural?" My mother had taken me to the hairdressers over the weekend to dye my dark brown hair back to my natural white blonde and today I had left it just to do what it wanted. It sat below my shoulders bouncy and wavy; I kind of felt like some kind of ice princess although I'd filled in my eyebrows to define my face a bit more.
I grabbed my clutch and followed my mother through to where Drew stood in the hallway. As cheesy as it sounds, he did pull a cliche movie moment and took a gasp as I walked through.
"You look stunning." He whimpered. My little brother wiggled his eyebrows at me and I gave him a light slap on the arm. "Shall we go?" Drew managed to compose himself and I took his arm. My mother kissed me on the cheek, trying not to smudge any of my make up that had only taken me approximately three hours to do. Eye shadow was a chore if you didn't blend it properly.
"Have fun." She called from the front door as they waved goodbye. My father was nowhere to be seen. He hadn't even met Drew yet but I guess he was still adjusting to the fact that his little baby was now a high school senior.
"Nervous?" Drew asked as we drove in the direction of the school. Drew knew I had talked to Luke, there was no hiding in this relationship, we were open to each other. Honesty was the key and Drew trusted me as I did him.
"I just hate when you walk in and everyone stares at you." I shook my knee nervously but Drew placed a gentle hand on my thigh and tried to soothe me.
"They're staring because you're beautiful." I sat beaming as he said that and blushed a little. Drew pulled up in a space and parked the car. We both climbed out the car and he took my hand as we walked into the school; I shivered as the sun went down and the air grew cold. Everything had been decorated to try and make an average high school look fancy. There was a huge tree and lights everywhere and snowflakes hanging from the ceiling around a big disco ball. Everyone look absolutely stunning; girls had on brilliant ballgowns and guys had on tailored suits and everything just fitted into place.
We found our own place in the hall surrounded by people who felt the same and drank some cranberry punch. Apparently you aren't allowed alcohol at school functions even though most of us were the legal age anyway. It was kind of sad in a way. After Christmas break we'd all be studying for finals and then we'd sit our finals and then we'd leave, and we'd probably never see each other again. I can't say I'd miss high school because I didn't have anyone to miss. But the people you see everyday would no longer be there; the weird kid who sat next to you in science class and picked his nose when he thought you weren't looking; the popular girl who laughed when she tripped you up and bounced away with her little squad; or the ones like Luke, who I'd finally found even ground with after all this time. After Christmas break all that would be next to me in English class was an empty seat and Mason's laughter in front. Drew and Mason where the two I would keep in touch with. Even if me and Drew broke up, I would still be friends with Mason; we got along really well and were into the same things. I still hadn't heard from Jade but due to the endless selfies I saw on Michael's Facebook profile, I assumed she was still alive. And also the fact that Mason was dating her brother. I'm lowkey annoyed about that whole scenario because I was nothing but nice to her, but I have a feeling that she knew about the whole Luke scenario and why he did what he did.
